Yeah
The turnaround up top scared me more than going up, until I went down and couldn't see over the hood for a good 3-4 seconds with the 4.1 crawl ratio, then I really started freaking, all you see is the narrow sides staring at you for a good little bit then you finally see the path down, and all at once the vehicle rocks forward and you feel like your going to endo. Pretty harry stuff, Did it in my T100 back in 2001, my first heavy thing I tacled in it, the only time I ever thought both back wheels were off the ground because I braked too hard when I felt the endo starting, I got lucky, because pic's don't do it justice, it's Freaking HIGH. Can't wait to do it again, probably in a built Rubicon, I want to tackle everything next time I go. Hopefully a nice 3 day trip, but I'm oversea's right now and that will probably be in about 3-5 years.

At the bottom there are 2 video's of a Tacoma going up and then back down. Pretty cool to see for those of us who have never actually been there before. The bottom of Lions back and the very top look really steep!

JB, glad you had a great trip! With a month off, though, I guess it would be impossible for it not to be. I haven't been on here in quite a long while and just happened to stumble onto this thread.
If your 'Runner wasn't in those pictures, I would've thought they were mine! Good stuff! Glad the site came in handy for you. I really need to update my trails section, both existing stuff and for new additions. That section has been on the back burner for awhile.

I enjoyed having the Colorado books but your trail descriptions and pictures often provided vital supplementation and sometimes a more accurate portrayal of the routes. There's a definite chance I would have stayed away from Red Cone, otherwise, and after seeing the views up there, that would have been a shame. Because of your pics, I was also better prepared for the real difficulty there, namely, the rocks on the way up. That whole loop was quite an epic journey for a nearly stock 4th gen. It was also one of the most fun routes on the trip. So if you ever go back there and find yourself honking your horn behind a Galactic Grey 4th gen slowing you down, you have only yourself to blame

I'd suggest getting one of the books. They're great for that kind of question. I'll re-work the trail list from easiest to hardest. No guarantees. It's just my recollection based solely on ground clearance and traction in dry conditions with low stream levels and little snow. Imogene really sticks out in my mind as a great trail for a nice challenge, variety, and great views.

amazing photos. what an incredible way to spend a couple weeks. i'm more than jealous.
and having grown up in maine with trails everywhere you looked, to be in massachusetts near boston there's just nothing around. (anyone know of trails in my neck of the woods? sorry to diverge the thread - but i gotta get some trail time in... getting out to CO doesn't seem likely any time soon).
