Now it won't start!

After the incident last night with the short by my brake pedal, frying the recoil spring (think that's the name anyway) everything was going fine. I run a few errands at lunch and drop some stuff off at home, now it won't start at all! The starter clicks as a failing one might. I however find it way to much of a coincidence that this happens the day after I had the issue with the short.

Is it possible I fried something else that took out the started after a few starts?

Any help would be much appreciated.
