o/d light

does any one know what a flashing o/d light means.i have a 90 runner v6 auto.please help.also the problem started when my speed-o stop working.does the speed-o have something to do with that light blinking or is it something else:bash: :bash: :bash:

It's late and really cold out and i don't have a FSM handy, but common sense says the 2 issues are connected.

The OD only works above a certain speed, and if the ECM doesn't know what the speed is, how can the OD work?

but what would cause the o/d light to flash on the dash.could i find something about this in my repair book.by the way truck runs fine,so far besides the flashing light can't feel anything wrong with the truck.

Can you feel the engine drop into the OD when you're in 3rd gear? So in other words you should be at around 3000 when you are around 50mph, then the rpms drop to like 1800 when the OD kicks in.<br>
If that works, then my guess is that the flashing OD light is an indication that something is wrong with its operation such as no speedometer reading.<br>

thank's for those links.check the yotatech and sounds like i got my answer. appreciate it colorado dan.think on getting a new speed-o cable hopefully that will fix the problem.

sorry for the delay.fixed the problem it was the speed-o cable.put a new one from the dealer and all the problems stop.thanks every one that help me.
