OBDII port location on 97' 4runner

Short of taking the 97' 4runner to the dealer, I have not been able to locate the OBDII port in or around the driver's side floor area. I was told it was at the kick plate on drivers's side...NOT. I was told look behind the ash tray... NOT. I was told around steering column...NOT...I searched the forum archive...NOT...Anyone with a 97' 4runner know where to look next?

To close to Easter to be on an OBDII egg hunt....

'97 OBD Port Location

I have a 1997 Limited - my OBD II port is to the right of the steering wheel under the dashboard. You don't need to remove any panels to get to it.

As a reference, when I'm sitting in the 4Runner and my right leg is sitting on the gas pedal, the OBD port is located just above my shin, about 2" - 3" below my knee.

Let me know if you can't find it and I'll take a picture of it tonight.

Yes, it is being resurrected. I was curious if it would be an OBD I, but II is better. I found it on accident looking for something else and there it was exactly above my right shin as I am driving down the road.

OBD 1 would only be on 2nd gen and prior 4Runners. OBD2 was made mandatory in 1996 which was the first year for the 3rd gen 4Runner.

It is pretty far over on the right side towards the middle in relation to that side panel thing of the dash. It took me forever to find it but it is there

Great!! I was thinking the only way to diagnose was with the engine diagnose port under the hood! Glad I found this as I already have an OBD2 reader!:clap2:
