New member
I joined the Off-road community in 2010 with my FJ. I had a blast building it. Was running out of money and mods I wanted to do.



In 2013 I picked up my Cement Trail Teams and planned to start a new Build.



Then, life happens and I end up in this for a couple of years. Not fun!



Been lurking here for a while, but I am now ready to get back to the off-road grind. Picked up this 2016 TEP and ready to start building...slowly.

That Army themed FJ is SWEET...and my gosh I would gladly take that Trail Teams FJ if you still had it!!!

Well I hope you take it slow and steady....when I saw the post I was like my gosh did he mod it already?!?! hah

I like the emblem treatment. I can say I'm not a fan of plastic dipping all the emblems, so that is a great compromise to tone down the chrome.
Did you tape it off that way or peel it off after covering the entire thing?
 
Did you take off the bumper to do those? Or did you mask them off? I was going to do that to mine! Looks good!

Yeah, I was going to paint the emblems, but it would bleed into the black base.

I taped the pieces and used black matted paint. No Plastic Dip. I had plastic dip peeled off quickly from my FJ.
The look really changes with the black painted trims.
 
X-Wing Sliders

I've had several sliders with my FJ. I Have installed and removed, stock Trail Team Sliders, All-pro, Demello Tube, but I have to say my favorites have been the X-wings. So, when it was time to get a pair for my 4Runner I went with Demello again. Plus, I think Demello's powder coat looks great!

Normally I would have installed myself, but with this KDSS...worth the few bucks for Demello to install. I was not in the mood to wrestle with the slider as I play around with the KDSS. They did a great job!



 
What a clean set of FJ's.

Lookin' forward to see your build. I was just at Demello the other day with an interest for their front flat top. That XWING is damn sexy though.

Thanks man, I loved my FJs. The Army Green one was a Beast and I had a blast with it. Can't wait to build up my 4Runner...but this time around I need to watch my spending. All the $$ can easily add up.

I was hoping the FJ's would have another RUN, so I lucked out and had to take on a 4Runner. Plus, used FJ's were ridiculously priced still.

Oh yeah, I'm easing into the modifications on a need-basis. :D
 
285/70/17 Tires and TRD Wheels installed

I was going back and forth on a 3'' lift. Because of my KDSS and its issues with a lift I was on the fence. So, when I was able to fit 285/70/17 BFG KO2, my lift fever subsided. I will get a lift soon, but now I am not stressing over it.

285s fit but I had to remove the mudflaps and had to trim about 2 inches from the front fender wheel well (Can't notice). No rubbing at full turn!!

Gibson Exhaust W/ Y Pipe

Just picked up my rig from Gibson Exhaust. I got a new single exhaust Cat-back system including a new Y Pipe. The Y pipe and system will be ready in late fall for consumers, but I got to keep this one.
Details are not officially out, so I can't comment on numbers, but I can share what's down the pipeline.
I opted to add the Y tip with a slash cut, but the one that will be available will be a rolled tip.











The dual tip is aesthetic, has same performance as the single straight back. I like the look, but I know it is not for everyone. That's why Gibson will offer both options.


Now to the Y Pipe:
Here is how the stock Oval crosspipe looks like. The tubing is small and it has this flatten piece for clearance.



Gibson followed the stock format, but were able to get a larger diameter tubing (don't know exact size).
It kept the primary Catalytic converters, but removed the 2nd pair. Removal of the secondary cats won't have any effect on the electronic monitoring systems.


See how it still follows the same format as Stock...


I like this set up because it doesn't cut across over the tranny oil pan. So, it won't overheat tranny oil. It used factory heat shields and no need to incapsulated with inconel heat shield.

Yes, Gibson's design is not as low profile as URD's but...
-Getting better clearance than stock
-Significantly better flow than stock
-Routed to use factory heat shields

I was able to keep my stock Y pipe if I ever need to swap it out. (In case of bad Smog result)

Bushwhacker Fender Flares

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the look. Added Bushwhacker Fender Flares.
It for sure cleaned up the chop job I did on the front fender when I added my 285's.
