that is pretty sh$tty and the protests in the states have their own problems. I dont think Canada and the US protests are connected directly. In fact in CA the banking system did not near collapse like the US in 2008 because they actually have fairly strong banking regulation.

when it turns into Seattle WTO type stuff, then i'll bother getting out into the streets. till then, im not looking to get beaten up and go to jail in order to accomplish nothing. the revolution will not be televised, and it will not be peaceful. the 1% have never hesitated to kill, poison or maim in the name of getting and keeping that money, and a bunch of people in the streets is not going to change their minds or their hearts. in fact, 99.9% of all real revolutions, in which the governing system changes radically, not just a bill or two passed, have been violent. in third word countries they have no illusions, they know a real revolution means storming the gates and killing most of the people in power. until that happens here the system will keep on keepin on. :sleepy:

Not cutting the guy any slack, but he did not "run them over because they were protesting." My guess is that he feared for his life or possible damage to his car.

What the f*%# were these idiots doing in the street blocking traffic anyway? I am all for peaceable protest and freedom of assembly, but there is no constitutional right to obstruct innocent people, impede traffic or deliberately damage private property. Once you cross that line, you set yourself up to be part of an 'epic fail'. Oh, and yelling "F*** the police!" at the police is probably not going to endear them to protecting your nasty butt from harm.

Oakland Police have a history of clashes with the public. It was the events from the night of 10/25 that caused the larger protest in the video posted above.


Did the police over-react? I guess it depends on whether or not the crowd was violent. Watch for yourself, the first three videos are all in sequence.

No no one was complaining while you traded "hypothetical pieces of fake paper" and ran the market up to 14,000. We started complaining when YOU almost destroyed the free market economy trading "not all hypothetical" pieces of (completely) fake paper, and then came BEGGING for the government to BAILOUT YOUR ASS. What a short memory you have there...

Why is it OK for the government to bailout you and no one else? Why was it OK for you to try and see how much you could win in Vegas (again your words) only to look for a hand out when you threw snake eyes three times in a row?

Why is it OK for you to go to the government and say, we knowingly bet on fake paper, we lost our shirt and now we need 800 Billion to save our companies, while it is not OK for people to say, we didn't know we were betting in fake paper, we lost our homes and jobs, what can you do for us?

Scapegoat?! The common definition of a scapegoat is a blameless person or group who is singled out unmerited negative blame.

With the elimination of Glass-Steagal in the 90s, banks were able to gamble with OUR money. The are able to use your grandma's safe savings account as collateral for risky hedge fund derivatives and leverage their risks with CDS that they insure against each other in a big web.

Then when they fail, the FDIC is forced to bail out the consumer who never intended for his 'safe' savings account to be used for derivatives, nor saw financial benefit from them. B of A is at present a zombie bank for this very reason.

Also, If you don't know what a CDO or a CDS is then you really don't know what the f*uck you are talking about or how the banking system works at even the most fundamental levels.

RESTORE Glass-Steagall, it is that simple.

Bet with other people's money and accumulate cash with the profits. When a particularly large pool of bets goes bad and the economy crashes into a deflation, you get more of other people's money to restart the casino, and you have the personal cash to pick up fantastic post crash bargains. What a short memory we all have... We DID bail them out... that occurred in 2008 under the previous president. That ship has sailed. He socialized AIG, Freddy, Fanny, several of the biggest banks and about half of the investment firms (like the one that the guy who wrote that letter works at), insurance companies and a couple of auto manufactures. He's got balls taking shots at government workers... from about 2008 until late 2010 he too was arguably a government worker or at least the government was a major share holder in his firm.

"Let them fail" Ya we saw how that all worked when we let Lehman Bros "die"... All hell broke loose. The market lost almost half its value in little more than a couple of months, people were thrown out of there homes, lost their life savings, more jobs where shipped to China... Legitimate firms that were doing well were unable to get short term operating loans to do ANYTHING. The impact of "Let them fail" was going to be FREAKING huge. We were basically days away from fighting over road kill.

The consequences should be a couple of perp walks. Some of these people who knowingly traded "hypothetical pieces of fake paper", should be spending some time in a Federal Prison.

The consequence should be that we enact laws and controls to prevent these guys from trading pieces of fake paper in the future and driving the economy to the brink.
