October 2015 Meet and Trail Run

I'm down. I'd like the trail to be at least medium, not easy.

I have found most "easy trails" can be done in a Suburu.

Unless it is crazy scenic.. That's another story.

Well, for a Bee Canyon run, we would want to meet off of SR-74 just past the ranger station around 10am. The area is east of Hemet in the San Jacinto Mountains. The trail is 15 miles, but it shouldn't take any more than a couple of hours to complete.

For BrianSD_42, there is a more difficult trail that splits off, ending a little further away from Idyllwild on SR-243. I have not yet run that part. If we can find a trail leader for that part, that might work out.

Doesn't matter to me which trail we run. Tell me when and where and I'll show up. Looking forward to finally getting out and about. I might actually be down in Anza Borrego the weekend before for a night time photography class, but I'm going to try to run around in Borrego during the day (class is Sat night) Gives me a reason to finally try to get my CB working correctly too I suppose.

Where is the night photography class in Anza Borrego and is it open to others? I'm going to be out there on Oct. 10 with the SCORE guys/gals. They're doing a big day run on Saturday and leaving but I'm staying over on Saturday night in Blair Valley.

Note: there are many things to do once up in Pine Cove - there's Lake Hemet, Idyllwild shopping, dining, and more trails to name a few.

Where is the night photography class in Anza Borrego and is it open to others? I'm going to be out there on Oct. 10 with the SCORE guys/gals. They're doing a big day run on Saturday and leaving but I'm staying over on Saturday night in Blair Valley.

Multiple runs with different levels of difficulty is an excellent idea. Saturdays are preferable since it gives u Sunday to repair the damage! :shocked:

Hey Kimo, got your pm. Sent u one. I wasn't planning on leading a run but I will if need be. I like your idea about Clark's Grade into BigBear, then Jacoby Canyon. Afterwards maybe Holcomb Creek or Lower Larga..? This way we can have a bunny run and a blue sq./blk.diamond run for the more adventurous. Let me know your thoughts...or not. :reddance:

Just a heads up, I posted a new thread to ID trail leaders for the our SoCal club. It would be great if we knew who could lead what. Just an idea.

Mt san jacinto isnt very close to big bear in regards to drive time. But there are a few nice campsites up there. Closest drive down the mountain to big bear is Black mountain yellow post sites, have some excellent sites with a killer view, sometimes fills quickly onthe weekend though. But the road 'black mountain truck trail' closes in wintertime usually at the first sign of any snow. Search fishpoets posts on mjr.com for some pics and gps coor.

Thanks for putting this together. Any decision yet on what is the (final) trail are you are leading or coodinating? From the first post it does not seem to be finalized.

I don't mind leading any easy/medium trail but I'm hoping to meet at the trail head or freeway turn off because I'll be camping in Big Bear area and that gas station is backtracking 45 mins - 1 hour each way from the first trailhead you suggested. So if you are meeting at the gas station at 9. Then I'll be at the turn off at 9:30 if that works.
