Spare fluids for vehicle
Recovery gear if you have it.
Recovery point front and rear (factory hook is fine)

Description: Begin on Rouse Hill truck trail (5S15) on Hwy 74 and follow to/through Thomas Mountain. From the staging point, elevation will increase from 1900' to 5550' at the end of Rouse. The trail ends up back on 74 headed west (about 2 hrs give or take depending on speed). Then head toward Idyllwild (about 25 minutes of pavement). After meetup at the top, get onto Bee Canyon (5S09/5S07) in Pine Cove and head back down the mountain. Half way down is where the turn off for Indian Mountain is.
Those continuing on Bee Canyon will end close to our start on the 74.

4S21 Indian Mountain Info:
I have confirmed that it is a black diamond. "It is very similar to 2N17X, except much narrower. 4S21 starts on the high side at Hwy 243 at the Indian Vista N33.79700 W116.77794 and on the low side on 5S09 at N33.7676 W116.7894"
San Jacinto

Length: 3.75 miles. Time to complete: 1 hour.

4S21 can be found in the San Bernardino National Forest in the San Jacinto area. 4S21 is available to all Off Highway Vehicles. 4S21 has been adopted by the Hemet Jeep Club.

The US Forest Service rates this trail a blue square more difficult route. On 4S21 you can expect to encounter narrow shelf roads with tight switchbacks and old firebreaks running on ridges. You can expect to encounter deep ruts. Elevation ranges from 4700' to 5790'.

Note: This doesn't mean that we can't have a second meet up, or third for that matter, the same month. I would really like to see our SoCal club get active again, with organized monthly runs/meetings. I am also of the mindset that in order to include the most members, we should have an easy run and a more difficult run. I will update this post as we work out the details.

As always, I am open to all suggestions and comments.

I am available and would love to go! I'd be nice to meet some of the people that contribute to this awesome site.

Im in if I dont have work, dont know until the week off. Im stock without armor though...but that has never stopped me

The trails that I have some experience with:

1. Bee Canyon - Hemet-Pine Cove, there is flowing water to play in
2. Clark's Grade - Redlands-Big Bear, scenic, runs over Santa Ana River (flowing?)
3. Cleghorn, Pilot Rock - Silverwood Lake

If anyone is able to lead a different scenic trail, preferably with an easy path with more difficult offshoots, by all means let me know.

I'm also leaning more to Saturday, unless more folks want a Sunday run. Let me know what you think. If there's any less active guys on the SoCal forum that you have contact info for, give them a call and ask them to get up on this thread.

I work every Saturday. That will probably change in in a month or two. For now Sundays work for me. Can always catch up with you guys on a Saturday afternoon.

Multiple runs with different levels of difficulty is an excellent idea. Saturdays are preferable since it gives u Sunday to repair the damage!

First post updated with the tentative roster.

Okay, it looks like a unanimous Saturday vote. I only have one vote for Bee Canyon, its an easy trail (there is a more difficult offshoot in case someone experienced wants to lead a 4S21 run). Anyone else have a vote on the destination?

Chsbrgr - If a couple others are restricted to Sunday, we can figure something out.

With a dozen interested parties involved on this run, if we do Bee Canyon, we will have to pack in tight at the water crossing lunch break/hiking area (not to mention if anyone else is already there). If this run gets any larger, I might have to break this into two groups, but that's not a bad thing. We'll see how many more we get on board.

Doesn't matter to me which trail we run. Tell me when and where and I'll show up. Looking forward to finally getting out and about. I might actually be down in Anza Borrego the weekend before for a night time photography class, but I'm going to try to run around in Borrego during the day (class is Sat night) Gives me a reason to finally try to get my CB working correctly too I suppose.
