October Camping Trip #5- THE COVE!!!

Skid plate bolts are fixed thanks to [MENTION=132027]OneGreenTaco[/MENTION] and his ingenuity. Got my oil changed and fumoto valve installed today... and made a giant mess. When there's 10k between oil changes, you tend to forget stuff and in turn get oil everywhere when you incorrectly remove the filter housing. [emoji16] [emoji16]

In other news I'm ready for camping!!!

Did an op check on my wife's tent. Everything seems to be in order.

My neighbor saw it and yelled out "you going campin' bud?" I said jokingly "nah my wife kicked me out!"

1- Most trails are very narrow- you will pinstripe the hell out of your rig. I'm not sure that will bother your RTT though- lots of us have awnings hanging off the rack and have never had an issue. There are some off-camber spots to consider too with all the weight up top. Overall I think it would be fine though.

2- Bring whomever you want- I just need a vehicle count.

With the amount of vehicles we may be seeing, I may just have to move us to a different (bigger)camp. The way it is now, I don't think everyone would get a picnic table in camp 2- if that matters... There is plenty of physical space there though.

Now I've just got to decide on if I want to sleep on the ground or the RTT... hmmmm.

Well- I just received a PM and added 5 vehicles to the list!

This puts us at 33 confirmed- most ever, by far!!

I'm waiting to hear back from The Cove about possibly changing our sight.

We have 2 portapotties, and 10 picnic tables at Camp II (although the bath houses aren't too far away). So...with the possibility of 100 people you guys (and girls) may want to bring your own portable tables. I have no doubt there is enough physical room there for us, I just want everyone to be aware. Plan on roughing it, lol

I don't know if they can move us to a different sight yet- when I know you guys will know.

33 vehicles possibly double number of people? That's probably bigger than their whole summer season at the Cove!

So...noob questions again, Bath houses (plural)? I hope that means more than just one shower with hot water? Turns out I will have to leave early Sunday for Hagerstown MD and the wife specified that I had to show up showered for that.

Is the Cove a place where you can go in and out throughout the daytime for supplies, more Coors Lights and Makers or is it once in; never leave until you leave? Even more specifically since I am not a great meal planner, can I just run out to McDonalds for lunch and come back?

Yes, there are multiple showers at the cove. The water is hot... the room itself... not so much. It's sorta like taking a boot camp shower... hit the hot spots. HAH!

Yes- check out the map. There are bath houses close to camp- you can see them in this picture. Not sure how many though.




You can come and go but always stop at the office when returning or they will be PISSED. I think the nearest McDonalds is like 20 minutes away or so...

We could even rent a toilet if we thought we needed to, they aren't expensive. In the construction industry we rent at least 1 per 50 workers and usually have twice a week service, but that is based on 8-hours of usage (i do construction management, i'm more familiar than i want to be with porta-johns)

If you read my post you would see that I have already contacted them regarding my concerns. I got this! imp:

The Cove hosts many big; 1000+ people events. I think they know how to run their campground, especially basic stuff like porta-john service.

I will keep everyone well informed!
