ODB II reader

I've got a 2005 4runner and cannot get my odb reader to connect. Is there anything special you have to do...key position, left turn signal on, etc....?

With my Code Reader (Moby****, laptop based) I only have to connect my laptop to the OBD connection of the car with the Moby**** cable and turn the key to ON (or Start if I have to do a dynamic test)

The key probably has to be on, but that should be all.

In 2005, the 4Runner adopted the CAN communication system (as opposed to the original ISO/SAE communcations for for OBD II), so that might be the issue. Your reader may have to be CAN-compatible to work properly.
