Odd ebay find, a 3rd-gen Limited w/manual transmission...

According to the buyers guide in the Informational Threads sticky, Limiteds weren't available in stick :wtf:

I'm guessing it's been swapped, the VIN sticker indicates it's an automatic (TM code A340F)

Impossible, they didn't sell rust free 4runners in PA. Would expect a limited to come with a chipped key, but maybe that was a 99+ thing.

It's swapped for sure, the limited never came with a manual. Every brochure, build table, and ad from the time showed automatic being the only available transmission. So someone modded it.

VIN confirms it's a limited trim, but also shows that it was originally an automatic which is confirmed with the door jamb sticker. The transmission and transfer case have been swapped along with the instrument cluster so mileage is suspicious.

I looked up the vin on my Carfax garage app, it was last reported to be 126k in 2020, listing says 138521. The history of the mileage before that also corroborates the last reported mileage.

It checks out, at least close enough to not be blatant fraud.

Probably not fraud, but definitely an odd duck - definitely a flip, but a lot of the work was clearly done by an enthusiast. Then you can still see the rust under the chassis black spray bomb and there are no clear pictures of the important undercarriage bits.
