Oddball SRS Code- B0131/64

I've had a flashing airbag light for a few months now; I've ignored it since my Scan Gauge doesn't pull SRS codes. I finally decided to take it in to have the code read and it came back as B0131/64.

Information for this code can be found here. I figured I would start by disconnecting the battery and searching around for disconnected or severed wires around the passenger seat and seatbelt tensioner.

I'm hoping it will be that simple, but I know that most of the time it isn't, so what would your next steps be?

Even tho you disconnect the battery there is still power to the system: bad things can happen: DI-239 shows you how to check your DTC codes for the SRS: are you able to follow and do all the 'checks' in the FSM? luck & be careful....!

The trouble tree is a simple one if you have a multimeter I would start with step 1 to determine if it's a wiring issue or a failed component. As long as you don't try testing resistance on the seat belt pretensioner you'll be fine, when you test for resistance you're multimeter applies a small amount of voltage and that's what causes deployment on srs components.

Thanks for the input, guys. I am competent with most mechanical repairs, but my confidence with electrical diagnostics is lacking. I would like to get this fixed, but I don't think I'd get through it without a descriptive walk-through.

The guy that pulled the code suggested that it is as simple as replacing the entire seatbelt assembly. These run ~$260 new from online OEM suppliers, but that seems like a lot of money to throw out without a true diagnosis.

I appreciate the input...I'll keep researching this code and try to get a better handle on what comes next.

Unfortunately, my issue is still ongoing. I did some searching through the wiring and didn’t find anything weird. I also replaced the passenger seatbelt with a junkyard unit and the light kept blinking.
