Update?

I have a ‘21 TRD Pro also. OEM Audio+ only has one option for us at the moment and it’s for their JBL Enhancement. I just ordered mine last week and unfortunately it’s a 45 day lead time at the moment. It’s ok though. OEM Audio+ is an incredible company with excellent customer service so I know it’s going to be worth the wait. With that being said, I’m fortunate enough to like about 45 minutes away from them and will be having them do the install for me. I’ll gladly report back with my impressions once installed.

Not worth the money. For that cash you can get a better sounding system. With better amp and speakers

OEM+ speaker well made and price is fair. Just go with speaker upgrade and you wont regret it. Best plug-n-play set out there.

I would agree. We're pleased with with the OEM Audio+ speaker upgrade for our 2020 TRD ORP. We did not order the sub or amp; just the door and dash kit.

Yes, it is pricey and yes, you can save probably $200+ sourcing other "direct fit" speakers out there. The reason I went with the kit is that it is truly plug and play and more importantly, the speakers are designed for the OEM headunit. Most higher end aftermarket speakers have very large magnets which can use a lot of watts to push them. This upgrade is great for those that want to keep the OEM headunit and not run an amp. Even though the magnets in the OEM Audio+ speakers may be smaller than most high end aftermarket speakers, they are still substantially bigger than the stock speakers which are hilarious tiny (i.e., less than quarter coin in diameter). The OEM Audio+ speaker cones are also way more robust than the stockers.

I find the stock headunit with the OEM Audio+ speakers to do quite a set up over stock and it is fine for my wife (her truck). I can get the sound pretty nice and clear with some fine tuning of the audio controls on my phone. If it were my truck, I'd probably run an amp to get even more depth to the sound.

I sent an email to ask what they do have to upgrade this system..

How does the speaker upgrade compare to Tacotunes? Looks like you can order a speaker upgrade kit from them, once pieced together, for under $500. $750 seems a little steep for something that is good, but not amazing. Or, a third option, piece together something from Crutchfield.

The JBL system has it's own amp to power all the speakers. I'm sure it doesn't like when you change anything out so you would have to bypass it.

Look like $640 or $665 depending on what front door driver you get from TT. Not sure how it compares to OEM Audio +.

I had the same issue with my Tacoma. I wanted to upgrade but the JBL system makes it difficult. I found a bypass harness but you have to run it all the way from the headunit to the amp and I believe that was a Tacoma only harness. You can always just run your own wiring from your own amp.

I'm not sure how changing just the speakers will affect the stock amp. Maybe it will be fine if you match the impedance.

I guess if someone has two in hand to see the difference in specs. It may be an ohm thing, or material too of the cone/speaker. If they are pushing more watts through it, they may have lowered ohms and made the speakers out of better material to keep from ripping. Maybe.
