OEM Battery

Folks,

My battery appears to have finally died (12 years, 250K+ km). I'm now in the market for a new one. I found this guy but wanted to make sure it fits the specs that I need (2003, V6).

I know it needs 710 CCA but does anyone with more battery knowledge about this car than myself have any recommendations?

I used a 94r/h7. It's 985 cca and has a 130 amp reserve. Fits perfect in the factory location.

I think the factory is a 24f...with the option of a 27f.

I bought a Odyssey battery 34R, 880 CCA for 218.99. The battery is shorter then the factory battery. They make adapters to raise the battery higher or you can use washers to make up the difference or even a piece of ply wood to raise it higher. You can fit the larger PC1750 battery but some modification to the cable may be needed some members have did have to modify the battery cable.

Recently dropped a Bosch 27F 710 CCA with a 120 reserve from PEP Boys for $101 OTD with a $10 rebate.

Don't forget to add some ground cables to maximize your 12V circuit.

It might seem counter intuitive, but check the dealer. They were actually pretty reasonable. I bought one of their 'True Start' batteries for about $110.

My True Start lasted about a week and failed me when I was far from a Toyota dealer.
The NAPA I replaced it with (3 years ago) is going strong.

Every company has their QA variance, even NAPA. I replaced mine early last winter. No issues at all.

Was it a TrueStart or True2? Also did you keep the receipt? If it's a TrueStart you get 2yr free replacement if it fails due to defect, ect.

Costco has some of the best prices going. They will have a book there to tell you which battery is for your truck. Good warranty and locations in every major centre... Or if you don't mind spending a bit more, interstate has always been very good for me.

Yes, H7 works well, but the battery size is slightly shorter than original and may require 3/4"-1" tray to elevate properly (roughly equal to 19-25mm).

In my case I used an old piece of mahogany under the H7 and it fits like a glove.
