OEM brake pad different styles?

Hey I ordered brake pads for our other 4runner last month 04465-AZ001-TM, And they were the full size pad.

Ordered them for my 4runner this week and they came with finger size width indents on each side, same part number.

The brake pad surface is much smaller then the other brake pad. Updated version?
I'm thinking of returning these as I feel they wouldn't last as long or have as much stopping power.

what do you guys think? is it toyota trying to save money?

if i remember right from my days in parts the "AZ" series of pads are the "cheaper alternative". I know my dealer stopped carried those because we had a lot of come backs for brake squeal.

Interesting I figured the OEM pads would all be the same for the 4runner.

I cam across this part number

04465-35290 also.

thats the one i was buy. Its the "full oem replacement". Not the cheaper alternative.

Nothing wrong with the AZ001 pads, try them and if they dont make noise then keep them.

Ok thanks for the info, didn't no that.

It's interesting the az pads i got before were the full size pad and these aren't. Maybe there the newer version of the AZ pad.
