oem cd player

I have a '96 sr5 4runner, and recently the cd player has stopped working. Usually when I put a cd in, it won't spin up, display the track, or play. Sometimes it will begin to play, then stop after a few minutes and display either an error code "1" or error code "4". Is there any help for this 10 year old player?

Thanks

yep, most of us swap our old OEM head unit into aftermarket ones. but if you like the stock look, go for a Scion head unit. if not, use a FM transmitter and turn on your radio. and if you have a mp3 player, plug it in. very useful. :D i hooked up mine into my 2GB PSP which play videos also. i put it on top of my cup holder and man it looks cool. HAHA.

Hey bro, I've got a CD/CASS from my 00 Four Runner. It's like new as it's spent it's whole life in a box under my bed because I swapped out my head unit as soon as I got my car. It's yours for $40 if you want it. Let me know... 805-268-1964

i too have a 96 4runner, but i got a aftermarket headunit, pioneer 8600, well if u still want to play cds in ur car, make sure u burn it on maxell disc, they are the best disc to put data and cd audio, and when u burn it, burn it at 4x or 8x, kuss wen its burned over a certain speed, all the other players dont read no more. make sure u try burning cds at that speed, and plus get a cd lens cleaner and clean it
