OEM Head Unit Question

Hi Everyone

Did some searching, didnt see anything really relating to this, but it's bugging me, as my wife is a Mazda CX-5 owner, and "her radio does this...why doesnt yours??" ugh.

Seeing if my 2016 Trail's head unit can both notify my when a text is received by my Iphone, and read it to me.

She loves to brag about that stuff.

Just ask her "my Toyota does this, why doesn't yours?"

Your 2016 Trail will do that! Mine does.

After your iPhone is connected to your radio, go into your bluetooth settings on your iPhone. There's one more step you need to take. Select the 4Runner's Bluetooth and select "Show Notifications".

Now it was finicky the first couple times I did it, so if it's still not working, then remove the 4Runner from your phone's Bluetooth list, and your phone from your 4Runner's Bluetooth list.
Then follow the steps to reconnect the two. You should see a prompt on the radio asking for more input. On your iPhone, go to "Show Notifications" then and it should work.

Take your wife's phone and send some testing text to verify.

There might be something in the Phone/Message Radio settings too, but I'm fairly confident these are the only steps.

Come on back if that doesn't fix the problem.
