OEM Keyless Entry Problem

Hi all,
New to Forum. I recently replaced my front speakers in my 04 Runner. Now when I hit Lock on the Keyless Remote all of the doors attempt to lock twice and the system beeps twice. Also the dome lights stay on for 30 sec. When I Hit unlock, the doors unlock but the dome lights don't come on. How do I fix this? Is there something I need to reset??

Sounds like a problem with the settings. Pull out the manual for your car and see if you can find any information on this: I would think they would have it. Then if that doesn't do it and you cannot get any additional help from here, your next best bet is going to the dealer.

maybe something is wrong with the settings in the computer. You could try to reset everything by disconnecting the battery for a little while. Any changes that you made to the settings would now go back to factory presets. Read the manual about any precautions regarding this.
Did you disconnect anything while putting the speakers in? IF all you did was swap speakers then I don't understand why you would be having problems. Did you disconnect the lock and window switches while doing this? If that is the case maybe all you have to do is reprogram the settings for the door locks. I set mine to lock at 12mph and unlock when I put it in park.

Thanks for the advice. I did disconnect the door lock and window switches and did have to reset the windows. I didn't think about the door locks though. I also had mine set to lock at 12 mph and unlock in park. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.

Well, I Tried reseting the door locks, but no help. I am afraid to disconnect the battery for several reasons. First, I will have to reset all of the programed settings along with everything I have changed. Also, I know if I do disconnect the battery, my truck will run like crap for a few hundred miles untill the computers get readjusted to my driving habits. If anyone has any further advise, please post it. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I fixed it!!!!! Turns out that the problem was in the pass. front door under the door panel. The lock knob has a steel cable attached to the actual locking mechanism. If the clip that holds the cable is not secured on the right thread, the door lock appears to function just fine, but the keyless entry system recognizes that the door lock is not fully engaged. It locked and looked locked but there was not the correct amount of tension on the cable. Pretty smart system if you ask me. Learn by doing, I guess. Thanks for all the advise. It did help none the less.

There are tons of options: your best bet is the manual because you have to do a combination of things to set the programming. As simple as it sounds too, it does not always happen on the first try. I almost gave up before my programming took, and all I wanted to happen was all the doors lock when I pull out of Park and unlock when I put it in Park.
