OEM NAV Bluetooth issues

I have a new Samsung Blackjack II phone & I have paired it with my OEM nav via bluetooth (I have a 2006 Limited). Whenever I place a call, I can hear the person I am calling clear as a bell, but they only get every other word from my side. Completely unintelligible. I went to AT&T & they gave me a line of BS that the problem is probably my truck. I told them that it works perfectly with my old Motorola RAZR. They then said that the car probably is not compatible with the phone citing that Lexus only works with Motorola.

I know that the Motorola thing is BS, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this type of bluetooth issue before I go back to AT&T & return this phone.

To clarify, I am wondering if anyone has had this kind of bluetooth issue with any brand phone. Not just a Samsung or a Blackjack.

Thanks!

We have a 2008 Limited with navigation and use an LG 8600 (Alltel service) and an LG 8700 (Verizon service) both have worked pretty well so far. I'm guessing you know the microphone is in the sunglass overhead storage bin. First I would borrow a different brand of phone on a different carrier and see if the results are the same or different. If you have the same poor out going quality the first thing that comes to mind is if some armor all or interior dressing got sprayed into the microphone it may have been damaged. Second would be a bad microphone or connection where it's lead plugs into the overhead harness.

Yeah, like I said before, the BT works perfectly with my old Motorola RAZR. I even swapped the SIM card out to see if it was the car & the problem is definitely with my phone & not the car.

I am hoping that someone else has encountered this issue & found a fix.

Okay if you immediately went from your Motorola to the Samsung and had the issue right away then like you thought it would almost have to be a compatibility issue with the Samsung. I empathize with you because I personally hate being the first to discover or run into issues like this, that no else has had yet. I do agree with you that the Motorola only excuse from AT&T is inaccurate since the LG phones work okay. Hopefully the store will offer to at least check your blackjackII for firmware updates and/or trade you into a different smart phone. Good luck

no problem on mine at the moment. i tried 2 different sony ericsson phones, and 1 nokia phone. all have perfect reception and voice pick up on both end are perfectly clear and no background noise at all. soon, hopefully in a week or so my wife will try to pair the iphone and see how it works. IF she is going to buy it this week.

That's what kills me. The bluetooth worked perfectly with my old Motorola. My old Treo 650 would not even pair with my truck, but that was a firmware issue. What kills me is that this phone will pair with the truck, it will make calls, receive calls, & I can hear calls. The issue is the outgoing voice is choppy.

I am convinced that the problem is the phone. I am going to bring it back to AT&T to see if they will exchange the device for me & try to see if the problem is the actual phone itself & not a design flaw.

Well, I went to AT&T today & the seasonal worker that helped me kept telling me tat the issue was with the truck. He told me I had to go to Toyota's website to find the list of approved phones that will connect with the bluetooth. I asked him why they did not have access to that info there. He stammered & stuttered & could not tell me. I came back to the office & checked http://toyota.letstalk.com which is the list of approved bluetooth devices for Toyota. Well, sure enough, the Samsung Blackjack is on the list (along with a bunch of otehr Samsung phones). Now, I have the newer Blackjack II, but you havde to think that if the last model worked fine, the new model SHOULD work as well.

So it is back to AT&T to force them to exchange my phone for a new one as it is now apparent that the problem is with the phone & not my truck.

I kinda have the same problem regarding the voice pick-up by the microphone but mine is not a phone problem. When I got my 4R, I noticed that the microphone wire and the sunglass holder interferes with one another. I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and said that they will replace it. I checked out alldata.com to see if there was a TSB and sure enough, there is a notice regarding the mic. Although I don't have the actual TSB nor the specific issue, my dealer was very prompt about replacing the overhead console for me.

Interesting. I just looked on Alldata.com as well & found some TSB titles, but I do not have access to the actual TSBs. I may need to get my dealer to research it for me.

Thanks!

My Treo 650 paired with nav, but it would only transfer contacts one by one and only the number that's set as the primary number. My Treo 755p pairs perfectly and the signal strength and battery level is also displayed on the nav. I haven't try sending over the contacts since I got all the numbers I needed in the nav now.

I knew it was not my car as the 4Runner list of approved bluetooth phones includes the Blackjack. And I now know it is not the phone either. I brought my Blackjack II back to AT&T and they swapped it out for a new one. I had the exact same problem with the new phone. Whenever I make a call, the person on the other end cannot hear me clearly. Even though I can hear them perfectly, my side to them comes through choppy.

However, if someone calls me, and my phone is hooked up via bluetooth, the caller can hear me perfectly. Bizarre, but true.

So my solution is to use the Function + B shortcut on the phone to turn bluetooth off & on. If I need to make a call, I will turn bluetooth off & make the call using the handset. All other times, I will leave it on so I can receive calls through my car.

I know it defeats the purpose of having a hands free setup, and I know it is not the perfect solution, but it is a solution that works for now. Hopefully Samsung will hear our problems & issue a fix for this soon.
