OEM Rear diff breather is stripped

Last night I tried to do my rear diff breather extension mod. I bought all the parts from Toyota but when I tried to put the new extended nipple in it wouldn't thread.. I looked at the diff breather I took out and the threads were completely flat.. Ive never touched this before on the car and the breather came out with ZERO issue or struggle so I know that I didn't strip it. Is there any easy and safe solution so that I can complete the mod?
I was able to get the OEM breather back in again with no struggle or forcing it FWIW

Perhaps chase the threads with a tap/die set?

Alternately you could enlarge the port hole with new threads and then use an adapter to bush down to the new breather plug.

The only concern I can see with this is potentially introducing metal shavings / contaminates into the diff housing.

I've got a couple options

Thread in the new nipple and it might strip/hold like the old one?
JB Weld or glue the new nipple in.
Weld on a NPT coupling.
Take apart the OE diff breather or somehow attach the extension hose to it.
Drill and tap new threads in the diff slightly larger than existing, the problem here is the metal shavings getting into the diff so you would probably have to pull the 3rd member and clean it out.

Im thinking I may try combining your first 2 ideas. I may use some Loctite and force thread it in and when I have it almost all the way in add some jb weld and make a sort of seal with the combo of Loctite and jb weld

just peel the little metal breather cap of the original one, and stick the hose on the remaining nipple. there is no need for a different part.

I forgot about the JB weld option lol… I would go with that as my lazy man fix.

Welding is another solid option, didn’t think of that, probably because I don’t weld.

Don't use JB Weld or anything like that or do any welding on the diff housing, it's not easily reversible, to seal the old vent use some high temp RTV/silicone, this way if you ever decide to fix the threads or someone at a later date does if you sell it the RTV is easily removable and will seal it just fine in the meantime!!

Just an FYI when tapping/chasing old threads and you need to stop the metal debris from getting on the insides coat the tap with axle grease and the metal shavings will stick to the grease, I have used this method many times when having to cleanup spark plug threads, also in the diff I wouldn't worry too much about a little bit of metal shavings since they will stick to the magnet on the plug.
