OEM Roof Rack Interchangeability

I have a 98 4runner and my factory roof rack is missing the 4 thin bars that go in the middle. I'm looking at a complete rack set for sale but it says it's for a 91-95. Will the bars I need work? Thanks

I'm pretty sure the 2nd gen racks are different from 3rd gen (almost positive, but always a chance). All the 3rd gen racks are the same (or close enough - I put a 2000 rack on my 98). Racks are usually available at junk yards. I bought the 2000 rack for $50 complete.

I too want to know if a 2nd gen 4runner racks fit a 3rd gen 4runner. There is a spare 2nd gen oem racks on the side and i want to know if they fit before i take them off the 4runner ^^

Nope, the 2nd gen racks are not interchangeable...I've tried. The 3rd gen rack is slightly longer so the 2nd gen ones won't fit. The tracks are interchangeable though.

Let me check my garage I may have the cross members off my 98 I took off when I installed my whitson rack. If I have them I will send them if you pay shipping. Let me know if your interested.
