OEM Toyota CV Boot "kit" not available anymore?

Called my local Toyota dealership and it sounds like the front CV boot kit w/ grease and clamps is not available for the 3rd gen's anymore. Has anyone else run into this?

Is there another general 4Runner, Tacoma, Sequioa or Tundra kit we can substitute? I will call a few more dealerships to confirm availability in my area.

I called my dealer and they were going to charge me $67 for something, I hope it was an own cc boot kit. I went with Napa lifetimes since my cv was washed out.

Just get the ones from sdhq. You need to provide your own grease for it but they work better with a lift.

75 bucks for both axles and then another 20 or so for the grease

I found a few of those kits still available on ebay last night ...at a reasonable price just fyi.

I use universal cv boots. They hold up better than the red off road long travel heavy duty ones, ask me how I know)

Interesting, I was searching earlier and only found 4th gen 4Runner kits.

I used redline moly grease in the outside joint and then lucas bearing grease on the inner joint.

Thanks! I see 96-04 Tacoma listed on SDHQ, are those the same as 3rd gen 4Runner?

Yes they are. Just did these a couple days ago. Messy as heck but they're good boots imo .

Agree with Kryptoroxx on all thee above also add Mobil 1 Syn grease as a choice.

Toyota has put a ton onto the backorder list about 184 to be exact. they are still available just gonna take a few days to get part # 04438-35060

Another option are the All Pro long travel boots. Still no grease, but only $63 for both sides w/clamps.

Yeah I ordered 2 sets from Camelback a few weeks ago and they only had 1 set left saying they were on national back order.

I bought the boot kit from Napa. I believe it is EMPI brand and I paid around $20 for the inner boot kit. I have not installed it yet, but it appears to be the same as OEM.

that and the upper ball joints
