OEM Wiper Blades

The OEM wipers are pretty cheap from the dealer (I think that I paid around $13-14 for the two fronts) and they work well. Now if I can just find replacements for the windshield washer spray nozzles... something with a fan spray versus the three pin streams.

I've been playing back and forth with this idea. I like the fact that the 3 streams have a healthy amount of pressure so for mud and dust it tends to punch through and get it really wet before the wiper smears the grit into the glass. But in the colder months with frozen windshields and snow I do wish for the fan pattern to get more coverage of the windshield washer fluid to start breaking down the ice...

Anyways, Tacoma ones should fit fine; I tested it out on the 4Runner a while back while I was debating if I wanted to swap over or not.

why oem?

two reasons...

1.) the parts store wipers never last more than 1-2yrs for me

2.) the parts store wipers never seem to have quite the exact dimensions and miss part of the windshield.

Mine don't seem to last a year most of the time... then again all the dust and crap from off-road probably doesn't help.

Though I did take the blades off today and instead of wiping them down with a paper towel soaked in windshield washer fluid (which usually cleans them up well enough) I used our degreaser at the shop. Have to say the blades are almost like new, the rubber is still in good shape. perhaps I just wasn't cleaning them well enough before?

Interestingly, Rockauto shows different Denso part numbers. Wonder which is the OEM equivalent?

And furthermore, I've been working on cars for 18yrs. I've had Mustangs, Corvettes, Lexus, Toyota, various trucks and 99% of the time I go with something aftermarket, time always reveals I should have gone OEM. Nearly nothing at Autozone/Oreillys/Pepboys compares to OEM from my experience.

Did you look at the pictures on Rock Auto? I believe the Denso conventional frame style is what they came with. The part numbers shown on Rock Auto are 1601120 for the front right ($5.19), 1601422 for the front left ($6.66) and 1605512 for the rear ($6.66) plus whatever shipping cost to your zip code.

The other Denso wipers listed are the Beam style (which is an improvement over OEM in my opinion but quite a bit pricier) and the Designer version (which is not OEM style and in my opinion quite bulky looking).

Hopefully those are OEM replacements as Toyota uses their own part number system and I can't find any online sources that would cross reference the part number.

Luke87gt: I'm shopping now for blades. Are the Denso considered valid OEM for 4Runner? And did you buy and fit the Denso from Rock Auto? How is the Denso performing for you? I'm looking at regular Denso, and the Beam Denso options on Rock Auto. Not sure if/how the beams are actually better. Thanks for your help on this!!

The Piaa blades last a heck of a long time. Yes, they are pricey, but I've never used anything else since. I can get years out of them.

The oem wiper blade frames will accept wiper inserts at around 8 dollars each compared to over 12 dollars for the whole blade that wont last as long. For me, id chose the oem route.

The piaa blades I posted above are simply awesome. I hope more people will chime in about them. I've had them on every vehicle I own and they LAST, and the silicone is treated with a rainx type coating which keeps the rain wicking off your windshield without have to apply anything. When you get the blades, you run them dry for 10 min and it's smooth sailing.

OEM Sightline

I tried every aftermarket wiper you can think of, and they all had issues. Finally went with the Sightline's and they all went away. Not an endorsement, just a relief of endless frustration with wipers. They may go bad like the others, but they've lasted longer than Bosch, Rain-x, etc. I wish y'all luck.

I use this place all the time for my O.E. parts check out the link to your wipers looks like about 21 bucks each for assemblies or 7 bucks for just the refills.

Yep, I have on every car, my parents cars, and my friends cars. They last and have a built in rain-x coating in the blade! So the more you use them, the less you have to use them
