OEMValue Nav System Question

I am interested in purchasing the Toyota Solara 2006 Navigation System from OEMValue. I have a 2004 $Runner with a 6-disc JBL synthesis system w/10 speakers. I was wondering if anyone could answer the following few questions:

1. Will all 10 speakers work with this sytem?
2. Can I install a back up camera and use it on the LCD?
3. Would I be able to hook up Sirius sattelite radio to the unit, not a separate unit, but integrated with the NAV?
4. Will I be able to use the steering wheel buttons to control the unit?
5. Will I be able to watch DVD movies on the display?

If anyone can answer any of these questions or has done any of these setups, I thank you in advance for your help.

The answers are buried in several threads on this forum. I strongly recommend you search for all the threads, because there is some valuable information buried therein:

1. Will all 10 speakers work with this sytem?

Yes, they will, but I don't think the sound is distributed quite as well as the factory JBL radio with "surround on:.

2. Can I install a back up camera and use it on the LCD?

Yes. If you can find an Eclipse reverse camera comes with a harness that fits the back of the unit.

3. Would I be able to hook up Sirius sattelite radio to the unit, not a separate unit, but integrated with the NAV?

I think so. I was able to hook up a Toyota XM radio receiver to the back of the Nav Unit with no problem. However, the unit hooks in to the spot where the Rear Seat Entertainment system goes, so if you have the RSE then you will need some sort of Y adapter to attach satellite radio.

4. Will I be able to use the steering wheel buttons to control the unit?

Yes, including the satellite radio.

5. Will I be able to watch DVD movies on the display?

Probably not. Some guys on the Sienna forum have found a way to integrate their Rear Seat Entertainment system with the Nav unit to display DVDs that are playing in the rear, but I don't think anyone has been able to do this with the 4runner.

One thing you should be aware of (and maybe you already are since you didn't ask) is that the Solara Nav's voice will not play through the JBL amp system. If you want the Nav to talk to you, you will have to hook up an external speaker. OTOH, you can purchase a Toyota microphone and use voice commands with the unit.
