Off road areas in Nor Cal.?

need help looking from soome fun places to go So i go to collage at H.S.U (Arcata CA. Humboldt County) and finally brought the 4runner up with me. But can't find any trails or off road areas. Never had this problem before since i originally live in the High Desert and lived by the riverbeds/ on a dirt road. Any one know of some fun areas? these got to be some forrest trails out there.

Check out Charles Wells guide for CA. There are a couple in Humbolt county but nothing really challenging. If your willing to drive a couple Hours you can access some nice NorCal areas. Unfortunately for you they are really all in the Sierra Nevada foothills and mountains. Good way to look at it though: you are far closer to some amazing trails like Rubicon and Fordyce than you were down south! There are other options closer to you like Snake Lakes etc.

Edit: I don't recommend taking random dirt roads in Humbolt County... There are quite a few unfriendly "farmers."
