Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been lucky with mine. Had it strapped on for over 110 off road miles traversing the Mojave Desert and some technical trails in Sedona with no issues at all. Even slammed it into a tree wheeling in Tahoe with minimal damage.

I've fallen into new bike shopping so a bumper likely isn't in my budget for a while anyway. Just got a Transition Throttle to get a new hard tail play bike and I'm demoing an HD4 right now. I demoed the Ripmo last week and trying to figure out which way I want to go.

So after years of searching for a setup to transport my mountain bikes on advanced 4x4 trails I think I finally cracked it! 1up heavy duty bike rack + 8” hitch extender + CBI rear bumper with dual swing outs + optional receiver hitch on the tire swing out. Cc: [MENTION=138432]Liquidmantis[/MENTION]

The best thing about this is that I can swing the bike rack out of the way when camping. Will be testing this setup on the trails of Moab next week!

A bit off topic, but what wheels are those on your T4R? They look great! I love the MTB setup as well! Just bought my 2018 T4R TRD ORP and trying to get it personalized to my taste, you know how that goes...

Yessir, had an amazing time out there. Will be doing a comprehensive trip writeup this weekend while I'm on an airplane to Europe. The rack setup was fantastic and made it through with no issues on the single and double black diamond trails we did in Moab. I just had some light scraping on Hells Revenge. If you follow me on instagram @aperture20 you can see some pics/vids from the trip.
I also got to ride an HD4 briefly and was shocked at the new geometry. It felt 100 times better than my HD3. Almost made me feel like I was sitting on my DH bike! Having said that everyone seems to be raving about the Ripmo!

They are TRD Pro knockoffs by FN Wheels (FX Pros). I went with them instead of the real TRD Pro wheels because of the better offset and 8 in width vs the OEM 7.5 in. Been running them for a little over two years now and they have taken a TON of abuse from rocks and keep on going. Highly recommend them!

That is super nice.......love how its all integral to the swing out. I guess the weight isn't an issue for the swing out? CBI bumper right?

Ive transported a Downhill bike (50lbs) + a trail bike (30lbs) with this setup before off road and had no problems. I wouldn't put more weight than that though.

Yup a CBI with the optional hitch mount on the tire swing out. The weight doesn't seem to be an issue. I've logged around 1,500 miles of pretty heavy off road travel with it and everything seems to be holding up. I do make it a point to check the welds every now and then to be sure though.

Can we see how the "optional CBI swing arm hitch" is mounted. I don't recall that being an option from them.

I would still blue (or red) loctite every bolt! I pulled into Flagstaff last year after a road trip down from Salt Lake City (and a couple hundred miles of race trip driving before that) to find I was missing a fairly important nut on my Kuat Piston Pro X rack. Like other things, off-road use has a way of finding the weak spots eventually!
That said, solid setup! Way better departure angle than I had wheeling to the top of Ophir Pass with a Kuat NV 1.0 on the hitch (and bikes on the roof) after Iron Horse Classic in 2013. Curious how you’re liking having the bars above the roof line on road trips. Juicy bugs on the bars = extra mid ride snacks? That was my experience with the bikes on the roof, haha!
PS - current setup for race trips & “normal” offroad duties is a Kuat Pivot v2 and Piston Pro X. Bomber after the red loctite was applied
