Off Road Options in N Illinois, N Indiana orS Wisconsin ??

I'm new to the Chicago area and am looking for some off road options within a couple of hours of the city. I have located some 'pay to play' private sites online but wondered if there were some 'jeep trails'/fire roads, trails, forest service roads, BLM land, etc to get the TR4 off road. Any tips are much appreciated!

My Brother moved to Indiana a year ago and has been having a hard time finding trails. he says most of the locals go to Badlands or some sand dunes in southern Michigan.

I grew up in southern wisc and there isnt much there for offroading. Try looking in middle to upper parts of the state. There alot of atv trails up there, but there should be more jeep trails the further north you go. Try googling local 4x4 clubs and contact them. Theyll know the best places to go.

You only have two options close to the Chicagoland area. The Cliffs and The badlands. Unless there is a drought, if you dont mind body damage the cliffs is about an hour southwest of Chicago. Otherwise you are left with the Badlands in Attica,IN. The is also Redbird Offroad which I believe is public gov. land but that is about a 4-5hr drive from chicago and depending on conditions body damage should be expected there too from what I have read.

There is MIOBI in Iowa but it is private and exclusive only to their club. McCastlin was closed down in WI. To my knowledge there is Silver Lake Sand dunes in MI if you just like sand. I have also heard of a something called Rocks and Valleys in MI to but not to familiar with it. Might possibly exclusive as well.

I also strongly recommend not going to any of these parks by yourself except for maybe Silver Lake. It is highly recommended to go to all parks with another rig and at min a tow strap.

If you ever want to make the drive to Saint Louis, we got a place about an hour out called St Joes. 800 acres of dunes/mud/trails.
