Off-road Trip!

Update

I called Dennis (the owner) today to ask about conditions. He said that they did not get any of the rain yesterday. So it should be nice and dry. They will have some mud if you are into that. Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Thai, it is that Chuy's.

its all good, it will be back in tip top shape soon.

Thai, almost when on his side too, but thanks to the help of quick hands and some weight, he was saved.

Thanks all for coming! I had a blast. My girlfriend gave me a half-hour lecture driving home about how dangerous that last obstacle (side sloped hill climb) was, how important my health was, and how expensive it is to fix my car, etc....oh yeah, she will NEVER come with me again!:( She was traumatized by her first off-roading experience.:p

I lost my USB cable hookup from my camera to computer. Once i buy it and connect it to work's internet, i will upload some pics. (I just moved...so no internet connection.)

atleast its only your GF. I have 2 parents that havent seen my truck yet, they just know that it rolled on its side and I'm fixing it.

I was watching the video of it again, and you can see Peter sitting indian style on my passenger door. and I'm hanging in the driver seat by my seat belt.

This looks like the relevent section:

Hills should always be tackled straight up or down, and sideway slopes avoided like the plague!

This was posted by some guy named Thai. I'll bet this could never have happened if he had been there.:D :D

haha, the thing is I wasn't even tackling that hill.
my truck has too much power with the supercharger.

I was muscling thru the mud pit. turning my wheel back and forth to get traction.
I was coming to the end of the pit where it was dry hard dirt.
my front tire fell into a dried rut and pulled my truck to the side of the pit, I had let off the gas but I could not turn out fast enough.
the tires caught the side of the pit and just climbed up from the momentum.

Well I finially got to come back into the house. My wife walked right to the spot in my bumper when I got home. She did not believe me when I said I could buff it out. I had one scratch on the passager side that I need to buff out. I got most of it with ScratchX. I am looking forward to getting some pictures. I would love to have someone email me ones of my rig in action. PM me for my email address.

Even with some damage, I had a great time. How often do you get to use you fire extinguser! I showed my wife the picture of the rollover and she felt better about my scratch. Look forward to seeing us in action.

You guys are slow ;):

Where are all the pics??

Just one poor 4R on it's side. Hope it is getting fixed soon. Doesn't look like the damage is super bad, but still sucks though.

No internet access from my home computer...just moved into a house.:( I need to find a way to tap into my work computer with my laptop. My GF did not take many pictures...despite holding a camera the whole time!!:p I think that she was just screaming at me for doing stupid crap than actually taking pictures!:(

Learned my lesson, never let the GF take pictures. They seem to miss all the good ones :D

Get a video camera and mount inside the car, or use a tripod overlooking the obstacle. But best is to get your buddies to take pictures.

I am sorry I missed this, the Honey Do list at the house lasted for three days. I think she was trying to prevent me from "endangering" myself and especially the 4Runner. If you guys have some more pictures I would love to see them.

I'll try to get pics up in acouple days.

my video man was bad. can't watch a minute of the video without getting light headed.

so much movement and shaking even when he stood still on the ground.

pics came out good. alot of ppl flipping the bird.

I have a few more...but mostly pics of my truck. (At least, my GF is biased.):) I will post when i get my cable connection...hopefully next week. I have pics of the RTI ramp...G500 vs. GX470 KDSS.
