off road vs pimp

new to this forum, and Ive briefly been looking around since im still at the office,

what little bit of beeing on here I notice more pple are more into off road and lift kits,
thats cool,

but Im more of a pimp my ride,

like big rims and that sort of thing,

are there anyone on here thats more into pimping out their 4 runner ?

anything like body kits, led's trim, etc ...

Honestly - you picked the wrong car to "pimp" out because:

A - It looks like **** when done
B - Few if any make "pimp" items for a 4runner

WhiteBeauty and Riceandpho and maybe SkylineGTRRacer would probably be able to help. Burtmann industries (a sponsor here) sells a lot of "pimp" & JDM items, he probably has more than I've seen from any other seller. He also has the only "body kit" parts I've seen though no true full body kits.

Most other people here have off road or stockish t4rs

edit: a lot of people (self included) run LEDs & HIDs regardless of build style and even stockers.

To each their own. But this board is populated more by offroad enthusiasts. Pimp my ride fans may be elsewhere.

Things like huge rims are less popular here because it hurts offroad performance. A high flotation ratio tire, smaller tire and more rubber, gives the best options. It gives you the best ability to air down and get the largest foot print as possible. Thin tires with huge rims are less impressive off road, also take less beating off road.

As for lights and lambo doors. Lights can be cool, if done right, but things like lambo doors only look good on lambos. :) Look like cheap **** at 4runner.

Ok, how about the 18" limited rims and some Hancook Dynapro tires. The combo looks pretty good together. Some tinted windows - leather seats w/ heat and a new stereo. Perhaps some HID's depending on year. Preferably ~4300K as they're not blue and provide the best light.

That's my idea of "nice" at least.
 
Welcome to the forum. There are some people around in here that just have them for street use and have set up some nice trucks. I would just look look through the 4th gen gallery and see what you like.

just not my thing,

I love my stock head lights, looking to get something similar with some led's etc,

honestly, I think Ill be selling mine soon..
 
how pimp do u want it, bling bling ghetto, or something thats tasteful, i think my ride is tasteful, but some here mine not think that and i respect that. i still think its re****ed a wheel so big like 20s + that is built heavy with some mud tires on it is kinda silly. i dont like the rockstars, it just kinda ugly to me.

Im not looking to make it all bling bling ghetto pimp.

suttle, but tasteful.

right now i have some 22's on it, one of those billet slotted grills for the front and some stainless door sills.

, i have a 07 sport on that shadow mica I believe.

not looking to do anything extreme,. just want it to stand out from the rest a bit.

I like my headlights, looking for something similar with some led's etc ...

unfortunately back in my 20's I riced out my 90 supra. its a bit extreme. so Im not looking to do anything like that to the 4runner. something tasteful that stands out a bit ..

The majority on this forum prefer the off-road look. But it's your vehicle. Here's a link to posting with a video from Japan that was posted a few days ago. I think you may be able to get parts (body kit) from a shop that can get parts from Japan. The video will give you a visual on what a 4Runner looks like with a body kit - I think there is one with a kit. If you want a body kit, remember the 4Runner in Japan is called a HiLux Surf.

I'm not trying to be a ****, but your statement kind of contradicts itself. In my opinion 22s are ghetto. I even think the stock 20s on the 5th Gen are ghetto. I hate everything that is ghetto, gangsta, and chrome. In my opinion, there are 2 ways to do a 4Runner, off road or stock, anything else just looks stupid. The pimp zone is just a waste in my opinion. I know that others have different opinions, and this is my opinion, right wrong or otherwise. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but it is just as pointless to "pimp" a 4Runner as it is to jack up a Supra and put off road tires on it. The style just doesn't fit the vehicle. I recommend selling your 4Runner and buying a Tahoe or Escalade or something that fits the (bling) bill a little more.
 
There was a thread a while ago about lowering a 4Runner, I posted a picture or two of some cleanly done 3rd gen 4Runners, its not my cup of tea but they were nice to look at.
 
That lowered 4runner I think has the XSP package, so it has the 20" wheels. I wouldn't do it, but it looks pretty sick, imo.
 
Any Chrome rim on a 4Runner is going to look pimp no matter what size it is be it 18" or 22".
I would just go with an 18" chrome well and some beefy tires and you'll have the best of both worlds.
 
To each their own, people are being jerks to you even though you want to mod your runner just in a different way than many of us. Granted probably 80% of this forum is for people who lift their runner but if you want to lower it or put some big rims on it go for it. Just know that a select few have done it on here and when they do people tend to make fun of them as they are you. Sorry about that but do what you think looks good.
