FJ..performed..better than either GX or 4runner. (Remember though that both 4runner and GX were completely stock with highway tires and running boards.)

Yeah, that does kinda nullify the comparison especially since FJC had the KOs. Were they the standard 32" KOs?

Great pics Thai! It is nice to see a G-class and an FJC with 600 miles on it offroad! How did the FJC compare to your G class on this adventure?

Yeah, the size is 265/70/17. There was something about the FJC that made it more competent than either 4runner/GX. It could be the bigger AT tires, rear locker, more articulation, 6-speed manual tranny, or something. Overall, both my brother and I are impress with FJC.

It's hard to compare at this time. FJC did not do the rock ledge because I did not want to push the owner. The FJC only had 600 miles on it...still in break-in period. I would feel really bad if he damaged his brand new car! This is also his first time at the park too.

For the hillclimb, the FJC made it up as easily as my G. FJC made it up easier than GX470 KDSS. (However, I would really like to see if GX with 32" AT tires could match it. I am trying to push TEXGX to get AT tires!):D

Other than that, the FJC easily kept up with me on the other stuff.

If he has any loyalty to this forum and its selfless pursuit of scientific knowledge, he'll do it.:)

Wasn't part of that due to thinner or less stiff anti-sway bars?

I am sure that the smaller anti-roll bars are a big part of the increased articulation. I am not sure what else Toyota changed to the 4runner suspension.

that is by far the fugliest color ever on that FJ:twak:

Actually, for me, Black Cherry is one of my top 3 color choices for the FJC, if not the top color.

Ok let me chime in on the topic.

GX V FJ

The Fj was very impressive. It had better ground clearence( I still have my running boards on), larger tires(As soon as my Michillen Cross Terrains wear out I will get bigger and better tires) and a rear locker. I did everything the FJ did. It just did it a little better. On the one hill climb in the pics, I hit my running board were the FJ had plenty of room. I did forget to lock my center diff so that would of helped with traction. The tire issue is huge. Mine looked like chocolate donuts after the first mud hole. The BF ATs worked great. The FJ never really had any traction problems.

If I had sliders, new tires and a ARB air locker for the rear, I could have keep up with anything the FJ could do. KDSS is a huge advantage in my favor in this case. With that being said, I would love to have a FJ for just my fun vechicle. It just looks like it should be off-road. Now for an every day vechicle, I will take the GX hands down. Now that my clunk is fixed, I will never let go of this truck.

The G wagon continues to impress me off-road. There seems to be nothing this thing can not do. ON ROAD, let just say that when Thai got to my house, both brothers and son jumped into the GX faster than I could blink an eye. He had to beg the slowest guy to ride with him. :D

TexGX

Wouldn't there be more articulation with the KDSS than the thinner sway bars? Did the FJC ever activate the rear locker in any of the OR sessions?

Sweet rides

Bastard! You lured them with "Forest Gump" DVD and your fancy DVD player and surround sound!:p Of course, your air suspended ride does not hurt.

I still like my COMMAND center and it's imprecise maps. Damn you MB!:(

Yes, GX470 KDSS does have better RTI ramp index than FJC. I have been pushing TEXGX get rid of his Michelins, running boards, and get ARB rear locker. Those damn Michelins last so long!

FJC did have to use it's rear locker a few times.
