Off topic: crazy earthquake at my house today

Huge earthquake hit our town today at 3:20am. It was very violent. I evacuated my family to the 4r and we moved to an open area to avoid falling lines..

Back at home now. No power. Giving thanks to God, house is structurally ok. Lots of picking up to do today.

Sounds like it was really understated by the local news channel here (Indianapolis).. glad you and your family are alright!

We live within a mile or so of the epicenter. I've lived in Ca for 32 years and I've been through numerous earthquakes, this one was incredibly violent. It felt like our 3 level house was lifted and dropped every 3 seconds for 30 seconds.

When I woke up I jumped up ran as best i could to my kids rooms and grabbed them and we all ran out the front door.

We hung out in the 4r for a few hours and then went back inside after I inspected our home..

Had a few aftershocks, minor so far.

Had you been in your 4runner when it happened you wouldn't have felt it :D j/k
 
Since the Family has been confirmed to be ok, I feel comfortable stating that I hope the 991 also came through the temblor unscathed.
 
Glad you're ok up there. I'm down in Los Gatos and woke up to it, and I'm a good 90-miles south of you guys.. must have been a crazy ride closer to the epicenter. Luckily there have been no fatalities reported yet.

Glad t4r carried us away too....smooth ride, probably not that smooth though. ;)

991 911 is unharmed as best as I can tell..

And yeah, felt it in Los gatos. Wow. Yes it was violent here. Kids are still shook up.

I'm in San Jose and it woke us up. No damage here but definitely felt it. I was here for the '89 quake. This was the biggest one since. Glad to hear you're ok. This photo is pure California for sure. Skate and destroy!!!

I was out by Fresno for the weekend camping with some Toyota120 guys, just heard about the quake on my way home today. Glad everyone is okay!
 
I was in grad school at Stanford during the Loma Prieta EQ. I spent the next two days working with facilities inspecting campus buildings. Coincidentally, I was in the Blume Earthquake Center when the earthquake hit -- the Blume Earthquake Center being (at the time) one of the most structurally deficient buildings on the Stanford campus.

During the next 30 days, there were over 30 aftershocks that were 6.0 or greater. I learned that I did not like earthquakes.

It woke me up even though I am 40 miles away. Felt like it went forever! Haven't felt one since '89. Glad you are ok and no significant damage to your house's structure. I have family in Napa and their chimney broke apart and lots of broken glass. Was a wake up for sure! It is a reminder that things can change quickly in CA!
