I hadn't even thought of that. Good point...dammit. I'm at 80k and ready for a new 4Runner.
Key Stats:
- In 2018, the 5g 4Runner will surpass the single year sales record set in 1997
-- In 2017, the 5g 4Runner was only -200 off that record
-- In 2018, the 5g 4Runner is +3,877 units over 2017 at the same point in time.
- In 2019, the 5g 4Runner will surpass the 3rd Gen sales total

July 2018 Highlights:
Some selected stats from press release....
- Toyota division posted its best-ever month for light truck sales
- Highlander sales increased by 11.3 percent, a best-ever month
- 4Runner sales increased by 26.0 percent (best ever month for 5th gen, but maybe not ever?)
- Tacoma increased by 25.7 percent, a best-ever July since 1996
- Tundra posted sales of 9,478 units

AND all the dudes with lowered tuner cars grew up, had families and can't fit everyone in a lowered 2 door civic anymore... Thats where I came from.

Another huge month.
I've been shopping for awhile and finally bought a 4R this past weekend (pick up next weekend). Waited until now to try and get a good deal on a 2018 as the inventory is bled out.
Since I'm a data geek, I've been tracking inventory levels of total 4Runners and specific configurations (mainly TRD Offroad) using cars.com/cargurus since April, pulling data every Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday).....national inventory levels and then 500, 200, 100 and 50 miles from where I live on the east coast. Obviously cars.com data is not 100% solid, but at least it indicates trends
Things I've noticed:
- National 4runner inventory level dropped to it lowest level on Sept. 4 since I began tracking in April
- National inventory dropped from 16,915 on Aug. 27 to 15,793 today
- This 1 week drop of 1,122 was the largest 1 week drop since April
All what you would expect with the new 2019s coming, but this week was the first really big drop...also likely aided by Labor Day sales

Not quite sure why anyone would expect Toyota to change anything but cosmetics like they have done in 16, 17 and 18.
