If you're coming from the town of Idyllwild, you'll make a left onto McGovern Rd. just outside of town (33 45'43 N, 116 44'15 W).

The trail is scenic and has a few somewhat challenging sections on some of the off-shoot trails. Enjoy.

How difficult is the trail? does it require anything special? extra gas or anything?

It's pretty easy except for a few somewhat challenging parts. You'll be fine with your setup. Most of the challenging stuff is on the side trails and they usually have some sort of bypass if you're not wanting a challenge. No extra fuel needed. The trail isn't that long. Have fun!

Sounds like a great course to take. I learned from guys who were trained by Bill Burke and I definitely feel the difference from quality training in my confidence levels.

Yeah, definitely. I would highly recommend that anyone who has a 4Runner (or any 4x4) and hasn't really done any off roading take a course like the ones we did. Even if you don't plan on getting into it hard core I found it taught me a lot about the overall dynamics of my vehicle in a lot of different situations. Who knows, you might even use what you learned just to get yourself out of a ditch or deep snow.

What would you say the trail rating is and how long did it take you roughly? I'm really wanting to run this trail cause its so close but may end up doing it by myself.

I don't know trail ratings but if I were to rate it on a 1 - 10 (10 being most difficult) scale, I'd give it a 6. It also depends on which route you take (side trails). I did it alone with no problems.

A little flexin'

I am not sure what this was all about. Seems pretty serious to threaten six years in prison for crossing this line. There were some camping trailers in the trail below this that was not marked. I did not take that trail for obvious reasons.

Canyon Lake

Trail around that sign above. I went up to see if I could see out and figure out WTF is out there. No dice. But there were a few fire rings, many of which are probably 10 years or greater in age. I like finding old campsites out in the middle of nowhere.

Gave my girls a break from boondockin' and stayed in a full hook up site in Lost Dutchman State Park. I do not like it, neither does the dog or daughter. But Jess is happy, so everybody happy LOL.

That's the beauty of blizzard pearl. Its filthy right now and looks great. Look at the pic of the sign you'll see all the crap on the hood from the rain and dust. Plus living in the desert makes it easy lol.

Brock is the ultimate spokesman for "Optima No Rinse" car wash lol. He just takes it with him, uses the water from his drink and presto! Clean 4Runner! Looks good Brock. Around here, you have to take a picture right up next to the truck 'cause if you move back farther than a few feet you will get a picture of trees and no truck!

i've tried making out to the other ones but timing wasn't right, especially during the winter, went up to mammoth most of the weekends the group outings were.
