Marc, thanks for all the great photos. You dominate this thread by a wide margin. Nice to see you really test your truck, and obviously know what you're doing :frog:

Nope. Only thing that touched was when my slider did its job thanks to my awesome spotter. He was the first one through the obstacle and I spotted him so we both kind of knew what to expect already.

Yup, same spot but it changed significantly this year. Lots of snow last winter so the runoff carved some of it out and made it deeper. Here's a pic of it from last year for comparison.

Camping in the Rockies all week. Going crazy without t4r LOL.

I was having trouble finding trail guides for the Durango area so I asked an older man in a Jeep here in the grounds where I should look. He told me of a place called "The Notch", which I found on a mountain bike forum, and we headed off. People talk about how difficult the trail is, either it isn't really all that difficult or I am way to used to wheeling my truck.

I was just looking through your pic of the Notch. I used to live in Farmington, NM and have been up to the Notch a few times. Once I went up in a stock 2wd Ford Ranger. From your pics, it looks like someone tore it down, but there used to be a building next to that mine shaft. Is it still there? Last time I was there was in about 1999. The building had a bunch of core samples and a 70's Cadillac in it.

It's not so bad. There's also a bypass around it to the left in the pics. The first couple of times I went through there I took the bypass until I watched other people go through it and decided I could do it too. The most important part for me is having a spotter I trust and only listening to them while blocking out the rest of the peanut gallery offering advice. If someone I don't trust yet is spotting I'll actually ask one of the guys I do trust to spot me instead.

No buildings out there anymore. I would not do the notch in a stock lift 2wd Ranger anymore either lol. It rained the whole way down which made things interesting. Not really a difficult trail but some decent sized and sharp rocks.

I would have to agree with having a good spotter.
Can I ask what you aired down to? Tires look just about the pressure.

Went up to Otay Mountain Truck Trail yesterday. Pretty good dirt road but I was able to find some hairy fire access roads, finally used my DAC!! It rained on the way up but I found some good dusty spots right at the end. Not a bad trail for being so close to San Diego.
