Anybody have any willpower tricks or tips to share? It's tough to be around people (family)who can and do eat just about anything and maintain a 6pack. Yet I just glance at a desert and I get an extra pound of fat. :preggers:

chew minty gum when you are hungry
brush your teeth
Drink ice cold water
eat an apple

I used to chug room temp water to cure hunger pains when I wrestled. Xylitol gum (ice breakers sugar free) works pretty well too. I use that out on missions when there's not time to eat.

Or you could just change your diet around and try to go lower carb and higher protein... Then when you're hungry you could just eat more protein...

315, back is still kinda foked, tried 405 got it up but form wasn't perfect. gotta get perfect form man, don't wanna slips a disc again

Good job on the deads! I know all about the foked back thing as I'm living it. Yesterday was a bench workout for me. I've lost a bit of strength, unfortunately. Was only able to do 345 for a single my last set. :( I will get it back, though. My arms just petered out too quickly. After that I did some low weight standing military press with 145, some rows, skullcrushers, front and lateral raises and some heavy barbell shrugs. My back is sore this morning, but I can at least get out of a chair without too much pain...

i see too many people like you who have hard time putting on weight destroy their body to add water retaining fake muscle. real muscle takes work. i hate to say it bud but nothing in life worth having comes easy.

+1

Dedicated lifters always get asked what they are using/what their secret is. No matter what you use, you still have to work hard. If you feel like you hit a plateau though, switching up your routine(muscle confusion) and doing pyramid sets seems to do the trick for some. Whatcha think, T4r4life? yay or nay? how do you get past plateaus

like you said when one of my groups stop growing i try to hit it from a different angle, switch it up, like you said muscle confusion. and when i hit plateau really bad i just stop doing that muscle group for about a week come back a week later hit is hard as a mudafoker and i've seen great results with that.

I've been wanting to take some sort of MMA or boxing class forever. I started doing kettlebell training recently too. How do you like the BJJ?

+1 to what everyone else said. I've been on a slow and steady bulk for a while now and it's way more effective than just trying to put on quick weight.

I love it. I was a bouncer for a few years and that is how I got into it. I burn a ton of cals between the drilling and the sparring so it is a good form of cardio for me. Friday before last I did a 1.5hr beginner class plus a 1.5hr "regular" class, back to back. Saturday I could not get out of bed, I was so sore, lol.
I got a great deal at a great school..groupon 2 months for the $40 when it is usually $69 a month.
I say, if you can do it and find a school that is not a shark tank, meaning just wanting to train meat heads to take punches and crap, go for it. tons of fun. Nothing like being choked out by a 140lb 19 yo kid who gets your back...true story..lol
