What made you go to the UBR over the CTR? Looks like you have a fun afternoon ahead of you.
I'm sorry, it's not a CTR, it's an ACS. I like the stationary cheek weld of the UBR. Also the removable doors on the UBR's storage compartment.

I still haven't decided on the optics yet so I borrowed the glass off my Scar 17. After trying to decide between the Vortex and Surefire 556-212A flash hider I tentatively went with the Vortex. After some more consideration I settled on the BattleComp 1.5 compensator.

I'm kind of disappointed in Double Tap ammo. I placed an order for "in stock" ammo about a month and a half ago and it still hasn't shipped. I couldn't find a number so I emailed for a status a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard back. I've heard lots of good things about them so I wasn't expecting this at all.
I went ahead and placed a separate order through SGammo last night... I just hope it actually ships and gets here before we leave.
Edit: Looks like they added a phone number to their homepage... I'll follow up.

SGAmmo is a good outfit. I ordered a case of .308 from them recently. The order was on the UPS truck the next day.

Am I better off building an upper maybe? I see more components than full assemblies lately but I'm just not sure if I will be biting off more than I can comfortably chew.
Depends. If you have access to the proper tools (armorer's wrench, roll pin/punch set, torque wrench, upper receiver block, vise, etc) then I say yes. If you don't, then you might be better off waiting. Rainier Arms and Bravo Company has uppers available now.
What upper specs were you looking at?
