Some fast numbers. All bullet weight (150gr) velocity 3000fps, atmospheric, sight height, and zero data (100yds) are the same. I had to run .308 and under to get equal bullet weights. Happy to run any specific data you would like. This is just math not the reality of being able to find the ammo in the caliber you choose. In reality the 30 cal gives up very little until past 500yds and if people were honest how much shooting do they do past 500?
Personally I don't do one gun as there are calibers that work better for many different situations. That being said if it was one caliber it would be 30-06 with a 180 Partition bullet.
.308/30 Cal 200/-2.9 300/-11.7 400/-27.6 500/-52.3 600/-88.3
.284/7mm Cal 200/-2.9 300/11.1 400/-25.3 500/-46.6 600/-76.1
.277/270 Cal 200/-2.9 300/11 400/-25.2 500-46.3 600/-75.6
Thank you very much for the numbers. That is sweet! And this is why at distance you need a good scope and good glass. -75 through 88.3 in pretty amazing when you really understand the numbers.
I'm leaning to the 7mm Mag at this point.
