Official T4R "Firearms" thread

My preferred method is tracing the weapons and using the electric knife (like for cutting turkey). Makes things a lot cleaner and easier like you said. Just didn’t have what I needed available at the time.

Great looking 74’s

I own about a half dozen guns myself. Bought a couple, inherited more. I like shooting and blowing things up. I like being prepared for the bad guys, whom I do see in my travels. I do hunt mulies and black tails.

But I also recognize certain truths, as much as I don't like them. The 2nd Amendment calls for a "well regulated milita." How can that part of the amendment be ignored? Words matter. Those were inserted for a reason.

Can we have a civil debate on this subject? What am I missing?

TIA, BTD

Given what you have posted, you pretty much have to go and turn in your "half dozen guns" to your local police station before they kill some schoolchildren or some inner city black gangbangers in Chitcago, otherwise everything else you said makes you a hypocrite.

Picked up a classic battle rifle, Brazilian Imbel FAL. Surplus Imbel kit on an Imbel receiver. I'm having it rebuilt and refinished along with new furniture. Should come back looking nice.

I regret selling my FAL to this day! Such a great rifle.

The FAL is one of all-time favorites. Loved it's design and history ever since I got into firearms but over years I got caught up in AR's, AK's, and other firearms. I almost lost the drive to find a quality military grade FAL. I was happy to find this gem off the Falfiles from a long standing forum member. All original Imbel parts along with the included 922r compliant DSA parts. I'll post up some pictures after it gets it's makeover.

Not sure any other would have that kind of History. probably bolt actions of WWI of Europe.

Any of you folks fly with your firearm? Specifically a Pistol. I have a Conceal Carry Lic. and have verified reciprocity for my destination so I am not worried about that. I am most concerned about TSA. Has anyone actually done this? do it regularly?

jordanrb81 I do it. I use pelican style cases when I travel with my gear for work. TSA can be a ***** about your case if it isn’t up to par. Keyed locks. Triple check that there is no ammo in my cases. Mags need to be separated from the firearm. If you read TSA guidelines, the part about ammo was something I wasn’t going to leave up to interpretation. Meaning the way I read it, I can have loaded mags as long as they aren’t in the firearm, they are safely stored so that they can’t somehow be struck. However, having dealt with a few TSA agents who clearly didn’t like what was in my gear, they can sometimes be dicks and seem to vary from agent to agent on what’s allowed. Which is bullshit. That being said I’ve found it easier to just travel with no ammo, and make sure I have ammo waiting for me when I arrive. You need to go to the MAIN ticket counter. Not curbside check in, not the kiosk check in’s. The MAIN check in like you were going to buy a ticket. Let the ticketing agent know that you are traveling with a firearm. They will have you fill out some declaration paperwork and then They will get you an escort to an inspection area. Your hands will be swabbed (usually) and they will ask for the keys to the case so they can open it, inspect it, swab it all. Once that’s done they will give you your keys back and you’re good to go. Once you land, your case will not come out on the conveyor with other luggage. There will be someone tasked to hold it for you (usually near the luggage conveyor). This TSA agent will usually call your name, sometimes over the speaker. You will need to present them with identification, they’ll hand you your case and you’re on your way. I hope this helps.
