Official Truck Builders CAD Model Library

I ported this over from taco world since this is now my main forum if you guys can help build the library im sure everyone will appreciate it!!!!

I am an engineering student. So I like to design things. The problem is there is really no place to get truck/offroad related CAD models to design around. For people who are big into DIY working things up in Solidworks or SketchUp is a real time and money saver.

Right now the library is small, just a few items I have found and modeled. I will keep a list of what is in it along with a render of what each model looks like.

To upload models you have created follow the link to the Google Drive. Make a new folder and name it properly so we know what it is.

I doubt this will ever happen but supporting sponsors can feel free to upload STEP files as well to help to fill out this library. It would really help some of us who are more visual as well to see how your components will fit our rigs.

McMaster Carr has a great library of cad drawings if you need basicly any type of hardware. If they sell it, more then likely they have a cad drawing of it.

I think I still have the 3rd Gen frame drawn up in solidworks somewhere. I used it make mounting points for both my front and rear bumpers plus everything else welded to my frame. I'll look and see if I still have it.

P.s. From an engineering design professional, turn your graphics down, your computer will run way smoother and faster, and have less chance of crashing and lose what your working. It looks pretty but kills your speed.

Good point i should include that in the op, all of my hardware on my box was pulled from mcmaster

Could you see if you have an option to upload files to the drive? It would be good to know that so I can swap over to drop box or another hosting service if I have to.

Looks like I can! The only thing I'll be able to contribute is suspension and some armor drawings, nothing stock though... I like the idea though!

I gotcha don't worry, those are renders, I have my graphics down while designing then toss the model into Photoveiw 360

Now if you could get 3D scans of the Suspension, Frame, Interiors With & Without Paneling... You'd be a GOD for a lot of us fabricators here. I still am struggling finding good CAD renderings of various gen 4Runners with just say suspension components or even an exterior scan that is accurate.

that will be a goal to work to with this if we have enough participation. I personally will have a model of the boot of a third gen 4runner in the next couple weeks here but i can only do so much by myself that is why we are asking anyone with anything to upload it to help the common goal.

I'm finishing up a lego ferrari just for fun, and will start on a 4th and 3rd gen Gobi rack model soon (to work on my weldments modeling).

Designed this today over lunch because the weight of my RTT is causing my runner's weak a$$ roof to rattle. Thule/yakima bars are not recommended for anyone who wants to put a considerable amount of weight on the stock tracks since the front half of them are not supported. This rack will evenly distribute the load and create a laminated beam that should eliminate the roof flex... [MENTION=92884]snivilous[/MENTION]

Well I tried to be cool like you [MENTION=94545]MTD[/MENTION], and my first attempt at using Photoview resulted in solidworks crashing since I tried to rotate the model while in the integrated preview. So then I tried again, and it just looked retarded compared to the normal view :biggrin2: So I'll stick with my not flashy show off models like you make :bolt:

If you want to model a dimensionally correct upper control arm for a 3rd gen and a spindle, that would be awesome
