Offroad driving schools

I did a quick google search and searched the forum under "schools" but didnt see much.

Anyone know where I can find or where to look for offroad driving school. I'm looking something where you use your own vehicle, day long course (or 2) teaching techniques for sand, mud, rock, recovery etc. Specifically looking for something in NC, SC or S-W Va.

The manufacturer affiliate courses like BMW (Spartanburg), Land Rover (Asheville) using their vehicles are too pricey.

I know I am new here but I have been an avid wheeler for more than ten years. I am coming over from the Land Rover community. A great way to learn is to join a club. If you have and are not getting the info you need then you may need to search out a different club.

Going to events that offer multilevel guided trails is good also. This allows you to choose your difficulty and progress if you wish.

If your goal is some sort of then accreditation, then that will be much tougher. And more $$$.

I have formally guided several times and taught (informally) to a few friends looking to progress their skills. If I can help you out let me know.

Ditto on the club thing, if you dont need an accreditation for it, then there is no were you will learn more than 4wheelin with guys that have been doing it for years... and who have learned their lessons in real life...

the difference between Knowledge and wisdom is that knowledge is learned in a book and wisdom is learned from experience... and there is alot of experience with some of these guys you can go with!

x3 on the clubs. I am fortunate enough to live in So. Cal and have several clubs out here that put on large events and then also hold Clinics.

x4 on the clubs! I had off-roaded (mildly) a couple times before starting to go with my off road club and they taught me more than any class could. And it's free!! Save your money for some mods!

My only Caviat on the club thing is make sure when you go on a run that the person in front of you has similar rig if possible, or knows the capabilities of your rig. This way you can follow their lines on the trail. Also good to bring a passenger that will be with you on regular basis when you wheel so that they can learn capabilites of your truck. This will help them to become a spotter for you, or if some reason you get injured can get you and your vehicle out and off the trail.
