It's easy to install a switch to disable trac. Just to note, it also disables vsc and abs. I've added the switch to my '02 Sport and it works like a dream. It's called the "Andy Mod" and it's found here: http://www.yotatech.com/f127/disabling-vsc-trac-2001-2002-4runner-vsc-trac-systems-103814/

Here's a couple places that sell lift kits:

Sonoran Steel: http://sonoransteel.com/

ToyTec: http://toyteclifts.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=3&Itemid=53

As far as photos of lifted 4Runners, check out this link on YT:

thanks.. that shouldnt be too hard.. i did something like this to have my flip up play movies while driving.... im gunna guess.. he missed the step where the other wire goes to something with energy.. like a fuse or something.. and then the ground goes to the wire that he cut???

steverstrike, just a quick question...are you locking your center diff when you go off-road??

When i had my '02 4runner, you can rev your engine to 2500-3500 rpms and this will allow you to overcome the TRAC system...to produce more momentum. Again, you need to lock the center diff, which defeats VSC (which kills momentum!).

Nope, no steps were skipped in that write up. I followed it to a "T" and it works great. (I actually wrote that write up for him and followed it step by step.)

Locking the center diff helps some, but it does not completely override both TRAC and VSC.

Doing the Andy Mod solves this problem and overrides both. :D

I think that center diff lock disable VSC completely. TRAC remains 100% on with or without center diff lock.

in the write up he has two wires going into the switch.. one goes to the ground wire that u cut.. where does the other wire go? no where? that doesnt make sense.. how can u turn off a ground wire with just a switch that is hooked to a ground

Correct.

I should have phrased my response better than I did.

You need to re-read Step 3. All that is being done is adding in a longer wire to the pressure connector w/ a switch inline that enables the driver to break the current on command.

First you locate your pressure connector wiring in the engine compartment. Next, locate the proper wire as described in the write up (should be a RED wire) and cut it in half. Now, take the two wires coming from your new dash switch and solder one of these wires to one of the exposed ends of the previously cut red wire and solder your other dash switch wire to the other end of the red wire you just cut. That's it.

Unfortunately, once the switch is activated, you cannot simply turn the switch to the Off position to deactivate the AndyMod. In order to return your vehicle back to normal, you must first turn the switch off. Then you actually have to shut the entire vehicle off. Wait a second or two and then crank it back up. This allows the vehicle's computer to reset itself. Once you crank the vehicle back up, the AndyMod should now be Off and your vehicle should be back to normal.

Hope all that makes sense! :bigok:
