damn just checked ur build thread that taco was freaking badass, i dont think i can sell my 4runner if i put that much work into it, and holy sh@t talking about custom sliders, those are the coolest sliders ever!

2wd with some type of posi traction or locker can definitely go on pretty much every trail.

Judgement is key and also the challenge is great as well. Feels like you actually need to think and use your skill to go through certain obstacles. Not saying 4wd you don't have to but you know what I mean. It's fun and definitly exciting when you do something in 2wd when you see a 4wd do it right before you.

4wd makes things easier but for someone like me. Who uses the truck pure daily driver with occasional trails 2wd with posi is perfect.

If it was a pure off road weekender then yea different story I'd love to have a built 4wd. But ahh 2wd suits me better and makes me happy everytime I take it out.

I still think we are talking apples and oranges, meaning there is a huge disparity between what some of us mean by "more difficult" trails and what others do. Not trying to bash anyone, but just because it was hard for you does not mean that its a hard trail.

In Arkansas, trails are usually a little wet in places. When I say more difficult trails, I'm talking about trails 3+. If its dry, everything will be a little easier.

Now, I will follow up my statement by saying that most of the surfaces I take groups down are improved. These bladed or gravel roads also tend to be the most scenic. I would not call these trails, rather dirt roads. Off road means trails, with little to no maintainance. These can get rough. At least from an overlanding perspective, I desire scenery, history, and solitude. Sometimes that means you have to have a built 4wd to get there.

2wd doesn't mean no fun, rather take it easy fun. As always, judgement is of critical importance. You are after a good time, not a broken truck or a thrashed trail.

Going off that trail rating I I think the most I would see is a level 3. I think Ill be really happy with a capable 2wd and I will save my stock suspension in case I do go 4w and I can swap it over. I just ordered a complete OME set-up. I should make a build thread now!

Just wanted to thank everyone for there input. I was expecting to hear GO SEARCH YOU NOOB! but you guys seem really cool and helpful. Looking forward to hanging around :hatsoff:

All of these guys have built some nice 2wd 4runners and take them out on the trails. 4wd is better, but you can always build yours up a bit and then return it to stock to buy a 4wd.
