Okay if it makes you all feel better I swear I have read through EVERY thread on here and yota to educate myself.. and i somewhat have, however my question is can I get 7 wrap/8wrap LC coils for the rear (50 bucks on craigslist at the moment..) and then just put 3" spacers up front.. I hate doing things on a budget and I know the motto, do it once and do it right, but right now the cheaper the better but i dont want to just throw my money away. I will do some offroading.. not crazy amounts, i like to go camping but realistically nowhere a Jeep cant go.. I mean a honda civic (same thing basically). I live in the city and do lots of highway driving and am not particular on the ride (stiff, soft etc).


So to some things up, can i simply get the shocks for 50 bucks and then spend 130 and get 3" spacers and slap them up front (keeping everything else stock) and i suppose get myself a diff drop. I do truly apologize for yet another thread on this topic

Instead of the front spacers, spend another $10 and get the Eibach coils Toytec/Eibach front coil lift springs - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

The stock LC coils are awesome. They ride and flex great. They just can't carry a load well and compress. They do come right back to height once the load is removed.

Shocks are one of those things that you get what you pay for.

Personally, I think the Bilsteins are the best.

Another thought for the front is to with an adjustable perch Bilstein 5100 and reuse you stock front coils. Front Bilstein Height adjustable front 5100 shocks - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits This way you get a great shock and up to 2.5" of lift. A taller coil like the Eibach will flex better than a shorter stock coil.

i wasss thinking the eibach coils, but then it says you cant use them with stock shocks.. so does that mean i have to swap out my shocks too. I was under the impression all i need would be the rear LC coils just straight pop out the old ones and put these in, and then (assuming i go this route) pop the spacers in up front .. I would prefer to put bigger coils up front as well but it seems ill need to replace the shocks as well.. I am a beginner at anything suspension related hah.

Are your shocks the stock ones?
As far as the Eibach coils, Call ToyTec and talk to Dylan or Jeff. They will answer any questions you have. I don't know why they wouldn't work with the stock shocks.

For the rear. You may be able to run the stock shocks but IF you can, they will be almost, if not completely maxed out on length at ride height.

How many miles are on the vehicle?
You really are going to need to replace the shocks. They are probably worn out and the rears will be too short.

I'm not a big fan of spacers.

This^ I drove around with my stock shocks and LC's 7.5/ 8 wraps waiting for new ones and the shocks would run out of travel going over a speed bump. You need to buy shocks for the front of an FJ80 and put them in the back of your runner. I use rancho and like them and lots of people really like the tokico trekmaster's.

And btw hurry up and buy those springs before some troll snags them out from under you!

Haha, great .. the guys selling the coils said he may also have some shocks laying around from the fj so i am seeing if he has the rear shocks to match the front coils im getting off him. then just have to start piecing together the front half.. probably go trd

I got a set of Tundra Struts, used the 4Runner Top plates and a Toytec top plate spacer and called it a day for the front.

the f80 i am getting the front springs and rear shocks off are from a 96.. is that going to work.. they are the 7.5 wraps, link to the add is at the beginning of the thread, thanks!

LC coils are from a 91 - 97....

So you will be good.

thanks, sorry i had to make some of you read info available to me and relay it back haha, my plan is to get these coils and i am getting the rear shocks to match the front springs and then going to work on the front, looking for as little rake as possible. Im buying the springs for 50 and the shocks for 20 (said they dont show any signs of damage.. so hoping they offer a decent ride)
