Oh Shi&*% handle tan-3rd gen roof mount

I want to add another grab handle for over the drivers head-

someone have one for sale from a tan interior 96-02 3rd gen please?

This would be the roof mount handle not the pillar mount handle.

And while we are at it-I am feeling for the predrilled holes to mount it- how can I be sure they are there without damaging the headliner?

Sorry if this seems stupid but my fingers are not detecting any "nut" or protrusion up there....

In my 2000 3rd gen I can feel holes to recieve the screws from the grab handles in the location you speak of. I added extra grab handles to the side of the front seats, for my kids to use to get in the back. (worked great). I went to a junkyard that was parting out a couple 3rd gens. The handles were unbelievably hard to remove. I tried three of the front handles (the angled ones) but stripped the screws and gave up. Finally I went for the upper ones on the passenger side, and was able to get two of them off (these are the ones you want, and they were much easier to remove). The yard charged me $5 per handle. I was also going to get a third to put in the same spot you are talking about, but there weren't enough at the yard I was at.

EDIT: Ibris offroad in Auroria has been advertising on Craigslist for parting out 3rd gens for the last 6 months or so. They might have one with tan handles, otherwise just call some yards around the area.

Yeah I read about those pillar mounted handles on Ritzy's interior writeups.

I will call Irbis-yep I bet they will have one somewheres.

I am trying to one up ya Glen

I found a $200 Subie for my son to learn on-he is 16 and my Runner's clutch is feeling its age.

Not yet running but we are working on it-the story is that it had old gas in it and is missing 3rd gear.

Ought to be an adventure and I am missing my excess garage space already...
