So, the other day I was driving and my CEL came on indicating a P0330... I drove it home and started in on getting to the knock sensors. I think someone was in a bad mood the day they decided where to locate them and put them in the worst spot ever. lol! Well anyway, finally got down to them after a lot of swearing and wondering if a whole new motor would be an easier route and the wiring was toast. Called all over, parts counter people never fail to impress me with their lack of knowledge. I was told by 3 places that I would have to buy a complete new engine wiring harness..... lol. Yeah right. Finally I called Jon Lancaster Toyota in Madison, Wi and withing 10 minutes I had ordered a brand new wiring harness for the knock sensors. Got it in 1 day. Anyway, the intake manifold gaskets seemed a little pricey since for the most part they are completely fine except for the rubber gaskets for the coolant passages. I decided to try using Permatex Red instead of forking out more cash for new gaskets. At the moment I am waiting for it to all set up before I go torque down the bolts. I'm hoping that it works because I really don't want to take it all apart again although ti will be a lot easier this time around since I know how it all comes apart. Anyway, i'll let ya know how it works.
Has anyone else done this repair and had good luck with the permatex?
Also, would original never replaced spark plugs that are burned up cause knocking?
