So.....
I went to the dealers today because I have a faulty 4WD to 2WD actuator... I knew it needed to be replaced.. I told them that before I got up there.. So I am sitting there for about an hour and they tell me.."come back Monday afternoon because we need to order the part..." So I say ok and head back home. Witch is about 45min. I know how to fix cars,trucks,suvs.. what ever I can figure it out. I know and have a feeling this isnt going to be an afternoon job.. So i called up Toyota and asked them about this.. Come to find out the Part costs 1,250 and it is a 8-9 hour job. Lucky this is all under warranty. Ill let you all know how it goes.. And this all started with the problem of the flashing 4WD light on the dash. I took a hammer and tapped it when i first got it and It did come out of 4WD totaly.. no more flashing.. Then i went to put it in 4WD it went in but it was flashing.. It didnt totaly stop.. hmm any ideas?

did you look at this site http://www.yotatech.com/f2/4wd-wont-disengage-99-4runner-ltd-131201/index6.html and order the two switches? Mine was flashing and I was originally told it was an actuator...same 1k part and 900 in labor. Turns out it was a $100 switch.

How is a 10 year old 4runner under warranty for this? Just wondering...cause that's one awesome warranty.

It's likely an aftermarket used car warranty. They tried to sell me one when I bought my Runner- I declined. You're lucky you bought it! It's gonna pay itself off with this one repair!

The thing that sucks right now.. is i just came inside from checking the oil for the first time... not to happy... looks like ****.. i used my finger nail to scrape off some oil.. showing me that it looks like they ran it dry or same oil for a long time.. so while im getting my new actuator im going to have them do a oil change and flush...

My fourwheel drive light blinks now. If I remember correctly it used to not. What does this mean?

It means many things.... Sensor could be going. IT could be sticking. It could be broken. Mine is between the sticking/broken. check out the site for the problem.. there are many diffrent tricks.. try them out..

I just read the warranty. It is a 30 day by law. Covers everything.. and when they fix a part.. the 30 days starts over. Also if they have to repair it more than 3 times they are lawed to give me my money back and take the truck.. just reading it now really made me feel better.. now i have an appointment for inspection tomorrow and if anything fails they are required to fix it.. and if it wont pass and is a lemon they have to buy it back..
