Oil Additives

Guys,
I was just wondering , does anyone use any additives in their oil- such as STP, Zmax?
In the old days we used Marvel Mystery Oil in the wintertime to "help the oil flow"
A friend uses STP in his Nisson X-Terra
to quiet down the valve noise on cold starts.
Any comments?

a lot of the toyota dealers use the BG brand of additives. I personally don't use anything for the oil other than castrol, or redline brands depending on the vehicle itself.

I wouldn't add anything to modern formulated oils and if you are using sythetic then definetly don't add anything. I guess on older high mileage engines that are burning oil a bit then some of that stuff might help but not on a properly cared for engine.

If it isn't broke then don't fix it.

I simply run M1 syn with a Puralator PureOne filter and change it every 7-8000 miles and at 140k on my motor it is running great along with very minimal oil consumption and zero leaks;no need to add anything.

Oil additives create goo in the engines.
They made them to be sticky and gooey, they don't completely drain out of your engine when you do an oil change.
Like ronMAIDEN said, If it isn't broke don't fix it
