Oil filter leak. 2006 V6 new Mobil 1 filter

I noticed a leak from my filter it’s not crazy but it’s causing a drip.
It’s a new filter it’s Mobil 1. Pre oiled gaskets. Tightened by hand? Any reason why?

Did you make sure the gasket from the old filter was removed? If so just snug it up some more by hand.

It's either defective, double-gasketed, loose, or crossthreaded which leads to uneven seating.

I agree with the guys above. Get a new filter then pull that one off and make sure the mating surface is clean. Not worth having an oil leak over a less than $10 filter.

They are super cheap too. I get them from my local dealer for $5.87 each. Fram at Walmart costs more than that lol.

The one and only time I used a WIX filter it failed. Long story short, I started to have an intermittent low oil pressure light coming on. Turned out to be the oil filter clogged or failed (approx. 300 miles after oil change).

I am dealing with O'Reillys right now and will post the outcome as soon as it is finalized.

I had the same thing happen awhile back on my 2001. Turned out to be a tiny grain of dirt or whatever. Removed the filter, cleaned both surfaces and re-installed.

Same. I did this a couple months ago and it came out to about $3.50 apiece. I have nine left. OEM for life in the case of oil filters for all Toyota trucks. Buy them shits in bulk and forget about it.

i run the longer filter m1-209, takes all 6 quarts of oil just fine.

I have always asked the Service guy to put the longer truck filter in it, no problems.
