oil leak on transfer case - Easy DIY or bring to mechanic?

I've got a slow oil leak on transfer case. Anyone else have similar failure. Appears to be originating at top of split line between case and rear black unit (no clue what it is). DIY, or bring it to Toyota? I'm somewhat of a handy man (mech engineer by trade) and capable of managing some repairs on my own.

Thats definitely a dealer job, but only if its warranty. The whole t-case has to be split apart and resealed. Its actually a very common issue. Doesnt actually hurt anything though.

Unless it is really bugging you, I would just let it go, check the level at each oil change and just live with it.

You might get it fixed and it do it again really quickly.......

Do you still have an extended warranty? Search the forum for transfer case actuator. The seal on the black box (the actuator) is leaking. This is a big $$$ fix because of the poor design of the seal requiring the transfer case to be disassembled and the actuator replaced. Out of the range for most DIY unless you are just swapping out the whole transfer case. IIRC one member put in a different super low gear case.
