Oil Level

92 V6, 196k, just checked oil, was barely at bottom of dipstick. added 2.5 qts. still nothing? Advice? Don't want to overfill- will dipstick always read accurate?

It's not dripping out through the filter or plug is it

Would that show up on the ground? I see some very small spots on pavement, but not a huge puddle or anything.

Yeah it would show on the ground but if it was poring out there would be more then just a few drops. Make sure the filter and oil plug are tight. Oil filter hand tight till seal touches block and then 3/4 turn and oil plug is usually tourqed to 30 foot pounds. Replace crush washer as needed. If all that is good add the correct amount of oil as reccomended. Wait about 15 min to let it level off and recheck. That's what I'd do. If you ever do over fill it's no big deal just loosen up the oil plug and drain some out.
